Aluminium CNC centre pull brake. Includes bolts for front or rear, straddle bridge and cable. Although allen key bolt (not a nut) these fit traditional frames that accept nut fitting brakes, ie the allen key head is not recessed.

I have been restoring a Jack Taylor tour of Britain. The brakes were fragile. I decided to use modern brakes that had a traditional look. After many emails with sjs, who have been excellent, I decided on these. They fit in with the character of the bike and provide amply breaking.

Do these work with brifters?

I would like to replace my current brakes (Shimano BR650s) with these. The current brakes cause my Berthoud mudguards to rub on the tyre under braking. I’m hoping to get a bit more clearance. Will these work with brifters (Shimano 105 5700 10 speed)? Thanks
Yes, center pull calipers work fine with STI levers.

Mount on frame with braze ons

Do these mount onto frames with braze-ons for direct mount centerpull brakes? i.e. part: 49460
These mount into a hole in the fork / frame rather than brake bosses.

How narrow a rim will these work for?

The narrowest that you could get away with is 25mm, however this is just an estimation.

Can I Use This With Gilles Berthoud Fenders?

Witch dimension Tyres will work with these brakes.
I have i singelspeed frame / fork with Caliper mounts.
Will 35 mm or wider tyres (700c) fit?

And if so is it even possible to fit a pair of Gilles Berthoud fenders?
The frame can easily fit 50 or even 60 mm fenders.

Hi,

These are caliper brakes which almost always have a maximum tyre size of around 32mm, you may be able to squeeze 35mm tyres in them but it is unlikely. This also means that you would not be able to fit a set of mudguards through unless you were running deep drop brakes and a narrow guard.

Mount As A Nutted Not Flush Mounted?

Building up an older Bob Jackson and need nutted brakes. Can these be so used.

These brakes use a unique fitting system that allows them to fit to bikes that require either recessed or nutted fittings so these brakes can be used with your bike.

Do These Brakes Require Bosses Fitted On The Frame?

I am aware some center pull calipers can be fitted with a single center mount, are these similar. If not what modifications are required to a frmae to fit these?

These brakes are compatible with a centre mount fixing, they come supplied with the bolt & spacers that will enable them to be fitted this way.

Hi,

Any of the Shimano cartridges or the Shimano compatible cartridges will fit those brakes. The Swissstop Flash Pro Yellow's are the only carbon specific cartridge sets that come with the correct pads. All other options will involve buying a set of cartridge pads and then buying a set of carbon replaceable inserts separately. There are a few different carbon specific inserts available from Shimano, KoolStop and Swissstop.
