ConsWears out, Big
ProsShift multiple gears at a time. Easy to use. Only option for drop bars & hydraulic brakes
I feel like my previous review may have been a bit harsh. I suppose the speed of wear will depend on the amount of use, and the conditions. I have used it daily, and in a lot of rain.

When not worn, it works great, and is a really great addition to a bike. Shift all your gears at once, or put it in a middle gear, it's easy and fast.

Given that it is a small batch item, the cost makes sense, but do be aware that it is potentially a wear item that you may need to replace. Combining the Alfine 11 with a drop bar and hydraulic brakes has been a great combo and this is the shifter that makes that possible.

ConsWears out fast. Expensive. Big & Clunky.
ProsCan shift easy from any gear to any. Simple
I like the ease of use, but I don't get the glowing reviews. I find this shifter wears out rapidly which causes the indexing to be less precise. That's a big problem on the Alfine 11. Even if you take it apart & clean/regrease it, the wear is an issue. It's also big & clunky but that is forgivable. The material is simply too soft and wears too fast. It is expensive given the lifespan.

ConsThe price (but quality costs, so no complaint.)
ProsPositive, fluid shifting, quality hardware, beautiful finish.
Wow. This with the Alfine-11 hub is the best shifting system I've ever ridden! No idea on the long-term wear-n-tear, but hopefully SJS will let me post an update in a few months. The shifting is SO much better than the original Alfine shifter AND you can shift all the way from the lowest gear to the highest (or highest to lowest) in one handful. Hopefully it shifts this well in the long-term.

I installed last night and have solved my transmission problems. 15% of the value of an Alfine - if it makes it work it’s a great investment.

This is a very simple but very well made 11 speed shifter that replaces the Shimano supplied trigger unit. A few conversations have suggested that the Alfine hub is good but the index shifter isn’t so good. The Jtek seems to solve the problem.

ProsWho needs Di2?
I bought this to replace Versa shifters. The bike is transformed! Shifting is now slick, silent and efficient. I can finally shift down a handful of gears in an instant, rather than grinding through the gears one-by-one.

The ergonomics are unavoidably compromised due to the length of cable to be pulled. As a result, the shifter is bulky, and the large range of lever movement makes the extreme gears a little awkward.

The cable was a bit draggy at first, but after greasing the length that goes through the shifter, changes were clean and crisp.
High Quality Shifter, However Clumsy On The Bar

ProsOnly real shifter alternative for Alfine11
The shifter is of high quality. Almost all parts (except on small cap) aluminum. Easy to install and operates smoothly. I think it looks rather bulky on the bar. This is also because of the size of the shift cable range required to operate the Alfine. A not so bulky construction would please the eye more :).
But it works perfectly!

ConsLarge size and heavy weight
ProsHigh Quality, Smooth accurate shifts
This is a high quality part, the body is machined from a solid piece of aluminum. The lever is also aluminum. Action is smooth and accurate. The only down side is the size and weight of the part. It's about twice the size and weight of a typical bar end shifter.

No, as the shifter includes a pinch bolt to hold the shifter cable.

Cable adjustment
By

Hi,
How does one actually adjust the shifter so it is synced (6th gear, the two yellow lines across of each other) with the Alfine 11 hub? The original shifter got a barrel adjuster, but what about this one?
Add an inline barrel adjuster - https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/jagwire-pro-indexed-inline-adjuster-5-mm-per-pair/
