6700 SS short cage conversion.
bought as a punt with corresponding inner plate to see if it would work to convert my 6700 short cage. Both 6700 plates no longer available
Replace it as a long cage.

Yes. works absolutely fine. 2 spring location points are slightly different than 6700. I assume to allow a choice of tension. Works absolutely fine.

Life is full of surprises. Great that SJS stock all this stuff.

Can I use RD-6870 plates and axle bolt to convert RD-9070 from SS to GS

Original RD-9070 has seized so looking to convert for trainer bike so weight not an issue. Only looking for functionality on indoor trainer
Sadly this conversion is not possible as Shimano has not indicated compatibility with any other GS plate types.

To convert the RD-6800 to Medium cage- (GS type). You need SJS part: 34242 & 34234 for the outer and inner plates.

I have Di2 6870 ss and want to convert it to gs/ long cage. I?m a bit confused by the response to some of the questions. Some appear to state that I only need the inner and outer plate others suggest I need the plates plus part number 34226 . Please could you clarify?
You need two plates and the Plate Axle Assembly. #34226

Can I use this with my Di2 RD6870 rear mech (currently short cage)

With a GS cage is there more distance between the 32 tooth cassette cog and the rear mech guide pulley wheel, is this the theory. Apart from the inner and outer cages do I need a bolt kit ad what is its purpose or can you use the original one form the short cage mech set-up. Thx.

The parts you need, inner / outer cage and pulley bolts are no longer available, no other combination of products will work to convert to GS.

You should not need anything else to do this except the Plate Axle Assembly.
