Steering dampers make it difficult to turn the handlebar while parking i.e. when on a two legged prop stand; while making the wheel significantly more steady. At the same time this improves the general riding comfort due to higher stability and directional stability for example while riding with loaded baskets or bags. When using the steering stabilizer the frame, electric light cables and other accessories are no longer damaged when the handlebar is turned.

I recommend this product
Fitted one to my Nomad, then seeing how good this bit of kit is my partner wanted one on her Raven. Now in Switzerland, Austria, Germany,France and Holland touring and not had a single bike topple over loaded with front panniers and bar bags too.

I recommend this product
I bought two of these. One to fit on the tandem to hold the bars straight when fitting on the trailer to transport it. This works fine.
The second was fitted to my daughters bike which kept falling over when loading the basket on front of bike. Fitting the Hebie has made a great improvement.
It takes a bit of working out to fit but fitting the second one was easy.

What Is The Required Clearance?
27 Nov 2020
At the closest I have just over 3cm of clearance between the Downtube and the Mudguard.
Would this be sufficient considering that the elastomer is tapered?
Hi, at the thickest part the elastomer is 20mm wide- so you should be ok with 30mm of clearance. However, as we don't have your bike here we cannot confirm the fitting.

Would this fit a Thorn Sherpa mk3?
11 Apr 2020
Bear in mind the Thorn forks do not have a fitting on the back of the fork! You would need to modify a bracket.

Can this be fitted to a Raven Sport?
16 Dec 2019
It’s an older model of Raven with the v-brake behind the heat tube. Bike also has mudguards
The stabilizer needs a hole in the back of the fork crown to attach the spring, if you can get over that problem (make up a bracket from under the fork) and the stabilizer will miss the straddle wire from the brake, then yes! RT 17/12/19
My down tube is not round (Carrera Crossfire 2) will the attachment fit
11 Oct 2019
Also brake & gear cables run along the underside down to crank - is there a fitting for this or clearance ?
It will fit not round tubes up to a circumference of about 180mm, it will interfere with any cable that pass this way but being plastic they probably can just rub on the sides of the bracket.
can i use this with a thorn nomad?
16 Jul 2019
Yes but not exactly as shown because your fork does not have a through bolt or boss on the back of the crown. You'll need to be ingenious.
Size of Item

Hi There
I am interested in the steering stabiliser but don't know whether it will fit between my downtube and mudguard. Please can you tell me the "depth" of the item and also the length. With thanks
Hi, the depth is about 30 mm the length is 160 mm. 31/05/2019 Thanks

I am interested in this but notice that the main photo has difference components to those in photo of components.
Please would you clarify?

The frame fitting is different i.e. one has a bracket the other a strap. The frame attachment block seems to be different to accommodate the 2 different frame fittings.

The adjustment is a nut & knurled knob on one & the other 2 nuts.

Does it really weigh only 75g?

Hi, the photo of the components is what is currently in the pack. There is no knurled knob or bracket. The weight including packaging is 73 grams! Thanks
