The most important measurement is B, then C
Ideally B must be the same or very similar (within +/- 1mm) C the same or slightly longer, A the same or longer.
D= 137mm
A = 22mm
B = 51mm
C = 32mm
You will require 1/4 balls

Measurement / tolerance questions

Are the measurements between the centres of the ridges. The pic seems to show bearing surface.
Mine B, 52 between centres (so between bearing surface more like 58mm)
C, 34
D, 135
A, 20
For the cotter pins, how do I tell if I need deep or shallow milled? I need unthreaded length less than 30mm
Hi there,

Our picture shows an accurate representation of the product and where the measurements are taken from. The choice of pin will be some what dependant on the crank arm so we would be unable to advise unless we both both items in hand.

Are all No5 axles the same?

I have removed the axle from a 1970s Dawes Kingpin and noted it is stamped with No5 Made in England T.D.C.
I need to replace it and wondered if all No5 axles have the same measurements? Would your ‘Cottered Bottom Bracket Axle No5’ be a match?
Kind regards
Hi there,

We can only recommend the best way to get the correct axle is to match up the measurements using a digital caliper.
