I recommend this product
ConsPrice, pads, difficulty of setup, weaker at full reach
ProsLooks, feel, reach
These look great and there is enough reach for 27" bikes converted to 700c wheels. Mudguards fit underneath easily. Pads not up to much and I fitted Kool-Stops. Hard to set up because of plain-post pads but this does make the brake arms stiff in the right direction. Some hardware is only zinc-plated, so smear with vaseline before winter use. These feel good in use - they don't snatch and they stay centred. Not overly powerful. I run one as the only brake on.my commuting fixie (near maximum reach) and it sometimes feels a little underbraked in the wet.

Will these brakes work on a 18,5mm width rim?

Hello, I'm afraid we cannot say.

Mounting bolt compatibility

Will these mount on a fork with hex nuts not recessed allen nuts? How long is the mounting bolt?
These come with one nut and one recessed bolt. They have two pivot bolts, they protrude 37mm and 52mm out the back of the caliper. Please allow for moon washers either side of the fork crown / bridge at 3-4mm each.

Mounting Dia-Compe GC700 with recessed allen-head nut
By
28 Oct 2019
Hi, I just received a pair of Dia-Compe GC700 centerpull brakes from you. My frame is set up for recessed nuts front and rear. The brakes came with recessed allen-head nuts but the supplied bolts are much too long. They work fine the old-fashioned way with regular nuts. Does Dia-Compe make shorter bolts to use with the recessed nuts, or do I have to cut the bolts to size? Thanks.
Hi there,

unfortunately, Dia-Compe does not make any shorter bolts as spares I'm afraid.

Thanks.
