The Smarti is designed for forks without mounting eyelets on the mid-section of the forkblades. This Highrider requires brake bosses for either V-brakes or Magura hydraulic brakes. The rack is mounted together with the brakes on the bosses. Although the height of the panniers is higher than on a lowrider, the handling of the bike is still balanced. The geometry of the Smarti allows for adjustment of the position of the pannier along the steering shaft of the fork.

Please Note: The overall width of the fork on the height of the brakebosses should be below 134 mm, so that the sidearms of the carrier can pass the forkblades.

If you have Magura-hydraulic-brakes on your fork, you have to replace the quick-release on the left brake-pivot against a mounting screw, as it is used on the right brake-pivot. For this replacement, please use only Magura-original-parts.

Brake Bosses

Sorry, follow up question: the description says that this needs V-brake bosses: i assume these are the same as cantilever bosses (as both the mountain bikes I want to mount it to pre-date V-brakes).
Thanks again,
Chris
Hi,

V-brake bosses and Cantilever bosses are indeed the same thing.

Thanks.
Compatibility With Various Bikes

Hi!

I'm looking to get 2 tubus front racks to use across 3 bikes. The main 2 bikes we want them for are old mountain bikes without mid-section eyelets. One of these has 2 braze-ons at the bottom of the forks, one of them only has 1 (facing the back of the bike) - will the smarti work OK with that and would we still be able to use fenders?

I'd also like to be able to put one of them on my old Dawes Galaxy (with cantilever brakes) - would the Smarti fit OK on this? And is it possible to use the Smarti on the mid-section eyelets on that bike at all, or can it only be mounted to brake bosses?

Many thanks!
Chris
Hi,

The rack should fit to the first two bikes without any issues, you would need to run longer bolts and washers for the mudguards on the forks with the single eyelet. This rack is really only designed to fit to cantilever bosses so you would need to fit it to there on the 3rd bike.

Thanks.
