SJS Customer Service:
It's all dependant on the fittings, we cannot confirm as it depends bike to bike.

How does this compare to Tubus Cosmo ?
By John Ford

Hi there
I own the fantastic Tubus Cosmo, which is stainless steel. I have used it without problems to carry up to 60 kg despite the rack only being rated to 40 kg. How does this Tortec compare ? Could I imagine that it is not built as well as my trusty Tubus upon which I totally trust on expeditions ? The reason I am enquiring is that it seems a very good price, less than half the price of a Tubus.

SJS Customer Service:
The Tubus Rack is a lighter weight option but with the same weight capacity. The design slightly differs but they are quite similar!

Fits A Hybrid Bike?
By CJS
10 Oct 2016
I have a Marin Larkspur hybrid bike with a 22 inch seat tube and 700C wheels. Do you know if this rack will fit my bike? The Thorn expedition rack did not fit as the two stainless steel arms that attach the rack to the bike interfere with the rear V-brake. Thanks.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
Hopefully this rack would fit, but unfortunately without having it here to test we have no way of knowing for definite. The extension arms on this rack are stepped out so hopefully should avoid the rear brake.
Thanks.

What is the dimension measured from the fixing hole above the rear hub to the rack top please? I want to use fat tyres and mudguards so need the clearance. Also does the top of the rack have a 'splash guard', I can't see from the photo.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
The distance from the mounting hole to the underside of the rack top is 365mm. No I'm afraid this rack does not have a "splash guard".
Thanks.

Tortec Epic Fitting?
By Oliver
18 Dec 2013
Hi! I have once of these they are great! But I am trying to fit it to a new 26'' tourer frame and the fitting piece that connects to the braze ons on the seat stays is too long by about 8cm. Any suggestions for an alternate part that wont reduce the structural integrity or aesthetic elegance? Cheers Oliver
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
I'm afraid there are no extra spares for Tortec racks to allow fitting to different sized bikes. I have no suggestions about how you could make this work whilst still trying to keep it aesthetically elegant either I'm afraid.
Thanks.
