Details
This unique product designed initially for hub geared cycles fits around the chain and sprockets requiring no fixing to the frame. The lightweight, low friction housing simply 'floats' on your drive chain. It creates very little noise during use. Your chain will remain better lubricated all year round increasing the service life of your components as well as keeping your clothing clean. The Chainglider requires no tools to remove if required. Due to the exact fitting of the system each model fits a specific range of ring and sprocket sizes.

Complete self supporting chain protection

In addition to the different chain ring versions (38-42-44T) the programme has been completed for different gear appliances.

The classic rear section fits after gear selection for Alfine (350 RD 18). For i-Motion the rear section 350 Ri 18 was developed and the model 350 RS is now available in perfect adaption for Rohloff.

Two options are available:
- For 18-22T Sprockets with 38T Chainring
- For 19-20T Sprockets with 42T Chainring

- NOT compatible with 144mm BCD cranksets

I recommend this product
ConsClean chain, neat design
ProsNone
Fitted to a front 38T rear 22T Giant Expression N7. It would have been nice to have received some instructions but managed without.

Silent running and no discernable friction. I wish I had fitted this years ago.

Thank you Hebie.
Good But Not Quite The Same As A Full Chaincase

I recommend this product
Consprotects chain & clothes, looks great
Prosnot cheap compared to a basic hard chaincase
great hebie accesory to protect your chain & clothes! but it covers the chain directly so it's not like a full chain case where it's supported by the bike frame.
Hebie Chainglider On Scott Sub 25

I recommend this product
Conslovely clean chain - just wipe the Hebie
ProsNeeds a little trimming to fit
Fitted to a Scott Sub 35 this has a Nexus 8 speed hub. 18T at the back and non standard 38T at the front. I hate cleaning bikes!!! cleaning a mountain bike once was enough, filthy job. Chainglider allows me to just add a little oil (5/40 engine oil) every now and again. Magic!
To fit to the Nexus 8 speed did need trimming a bit of plastic off the rear moulding (of the Chainglider) and trimming off a plastic ring on the Nexus 18T sprocket. No interference now remains. Hebie have provided a marker on the relevant moulding (possibly accidentally) Trim round it with a Dremmel. Likewise trim a little plastic off the "ears" of the front part of the rear pair of mouldings.

Very effective. Straightforward to fit. No fitting instructions: I was expecting the superefficient Germans to provide a Manual, but you don't actually need one. Fitted to a Singular Cycles with a Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub, the back covers do not want to fit over the shrouded 18T sprocket, so I have omitted them. The important front 95% of the chain is covered, so I am not that bothered, and I can see the condition of the chain to check on its condition.

Would The Herbie Chainguard Be Suitable For A Giant Sedona Comfort Mountain / Hybrid Bike?
By
10 Jul 2016
A question
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

This would not be suitable I'm afraid as this chainglider is designed for use on a bike that is either single speed or has a hub gear so would only have one chainring and one sprocket. Rather than a full set like your bike would have.

Thanks.
Will This Fit On An Alfine Crank?
By
27 Oct 2015
Hi,

My bike has an Alfine 8 hub gear with a 20 tooth sprocket and a 39 tooth Alfine chainring. Will this fit it?

regards,
Anne.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

I'm afraid we can only recommend sticking to the same number of teeth as recommended for fear of the chainglider not fitting properly. Meaning depending on the option you go for you can one of these with either a 38T or 42T chainring.

Thanks.
Is This Suitable For A Gensis Day1 Alfine?
By
10 Dec 2014
Hi,

Is this suitable for a Gensis Day1 Alfine with 40T chainring/20T sprocket on a shimano Alfine 8 hub?
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

This version of the Hebie Chainglider is designed for use with Alfine hub gear systems, but as you have a 40T front chainring it may not fit that well. The 38T version would not fit over your chainring and although the 42T version would fit over your chainring it would fit loosely and may not stay on your chainring properly I'm afraid.

Thanks.
Hebie Chain Glider..

My (old) cycle is fitted with a 5 speed Sachs hub gear. Which version do I need please?
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

Unfortunately there isn't a specific version for your hub, so all I can recommend is find one that covers your chainring and sprocket sizes and hopefully he should fit over your hub.

Thanks.
Hebie Chainglider Suitability
By
08 May 2014
Hello,
I have a Raleigh Pioneer with an IMotion3 hub with 16 teeth and a chainring with 38 teeth. Could you tell me which one of the Hebie Chainglider range I need to order.
Thanks
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

Hebie do make an IMotion specific chainglider but it was only designed fro sprockets between 18t and 22t the same as the standard. The only one that can accept a small enough sprocket is the Rohloff specific one. The Rohloff specific one will probably work fine on most other hubs but as we've only ever tested it on Rohloff hubs we can't say for sure. If you do wish to try that one and it doesn't fit then you can still return it.

Thanks.
