Details
Here they are at last: redesigned, new, small and narrow hub dynamos for folding bikes. Schmidt were able to make SON delux and SON 28 smaller and lighter owing to the spherical housing and reduced flange diameter. For SON XS, Schmidt had to advance technically: The new bodies have lateral slots instead of spoke holes. Straight pull spokes are placed into the slots as also found in system-wheels. This makes the wheel elegant and durable simply because there is no bending moment in the spoke elbow.

The new hubs are about 40 grams lighter than the previous XS models, which will continue to be for those devoted to classical design and polished surfaces. The new hub surface is anodized. Three standard versions (silver, black, silver-black-silver) are available from stock.

Fitting To A Brompton Wheel
By
03 Feb 2017
Can I fit this to my Brompton wheel with existing spokes or do I need new spokes? What other bits do I need to connect to led lights? What lights would you recommend to fit neatly to Brompton frame and be reasonably powerful?
Hi,

You would need new straight pull spokes to go with this hub, the length would depend upon which rim it you have. We unfortunately don't have any staight pull spokes available, but we do have the wheels pre-built by Schmidt these are SJSC part number 37472. If you are purchasing a light then this should come with the required fittings and cabling. We don't have any specific recomendations for dynamo lights for the Brompton but as long as you fit a Brompton sepcific bracket (SJSC part 31203) then most dnyamo lights will fit your bike (this does exlude some of the very large lights like the B&M Luxos U/B as they interfere with the fold).

Thanks.
