Details
SON 28 is a hub dynamo universally approved for all wheel sizes from 16" to 29". The rated output is achieved in the 700c (622) - wheel at approx. 16 km/h (SONdelux at 19km/h). Thus, SON 28 is recommended if a lot of light is required at low speed or when either devices are to be operated or their batteries charged.

The new SON 28 is reminiscent of the SONdelux in structure and looks. In the dtandard version (non-disc), the flange distance is enlarged by 12 mm and the bearing distance by 10 mm as compared to the SONdelux. Disc versions are available as 6-hole and as center lock.

Compared to the SON 28 klassik (model years 2000 to 2011), the power consumption when no load applied is reduced by approx. 15% and the weight by 140g.

Which dynamo will fit my 20 inch Carrera Folding Bike. And how easy is it to fit.

Also . Would it be possible to charge the Carrera battery from the dynamo whilst cycleing.
We would need some more details about the bicycle to determine a suitable system - we would suggest a local bike shop may be an easier resource to use.

The dynamo will not charge the bikes battery whilst cycling.

There is no specific model for your bike, but this hub will fit and work fine so it is perfectly suitable.

Thanks.
Schmidt Son 28 Versus Son Delux
By

Hi there can you tell me the relative merits between the SON 28 6 bolt disc version and the delux 6 bolt disc. This is for a 26 inch wheel long haul touring bike build. We will be keen to use the dynamos more for charging electrical devices on the road via a USB connector than for lighting.

Many thanks
Hi,

The Delux is Schmidt's fastest rolling hub with the lowest resistance to make sure speed is impeded the least. Although light out put is the same between this and the Son 28 the reduction in resistance means that the Delux can not be used to charge external devices. The Son 28 is the best of both worlds, rolls almost as well as the Delux but still allows for then option to run a charging device from it.

Thanks.
