Do You Have The 12Mm Version?
By
24 Nov 2016
Hi,
My bike has 12mm thru-axles, not 15mm. I see in SP's catalogue they do a version of this hub for 12mm, the PD 8X-M. Do you stock that version? Or is there a converter available that would do the job? Alternatively, what dynamo hub could I use with 12mm through axles

Thanks.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

The new SP 12mm bolt through hub is not yet available from SP's UK distributor so we're not able to order them at the moment I'm afraid. We're not aware of any adaptors, but there is a Schmidt hub that is available now with a 12mm bolt through axle. These are SJSC part number 42289.

Thanks.
How Does This Compare To The Son Hubs?
By
19 Nov 2016
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

The SON is a better hub as it has less rolling resistance as well being a more reliable and long lasting unit. The SP is still a very good hub and the value for money it offers makes it a viable option. The benefit of the axle being convertible is also a plus point for the SP.

Thanks.
Can I Run This With A 9Mm Through Axle?
By
12 Aug 2016
Is there an adapter you sell? I want to fit it to a Cotic Escapade. Thanks.
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

This hub is designed to only take standard quick release axles or 15mm bolt through axles, there may be an adaptor out there allowing you to use it with a 9mm bolt through system but it is not something we're able to get hold of I'm afraid.

Thanks.
Options To Build This Hub Into A Wheel With Sapim Spokes
By
30 May 2016
Hello, are you able to offer a parcage where I can select this up with a good quality 622 rim and silver CX Ray spokes (in silver). Many thanks,
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

We can offer wheel building on any combination of rim and hub, we don't however have Sapim CX Ray spokes. We normally build with DT Swiss spokes but we can also build with Sapim Race spokes as we stock these also. If you wanted to supply Sapim CX Ray spokes in the correct length we could build with these but we'd have to order and charge for boxes of 100 if we were to order them in.

Thanks.
Sorry The Wheels I Have On Surly Orge Is On 29 Inch Wheels Not 700C
By
16 Mar 2016
Details:
HUB: Shimano Deore Disc M525, 32h. QR. Black
RIMS: Alex Adventurer
SPOKES: DT Swiss Champion, 14g
If both dynamo hubs are both compatiable, do you recommend PD8 or PD8X? Thanks
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

As you do not require the bolt through axle option available with the PD8X we would recommend you go for the standard PD8.

Thanks.
Is This A Newer Model Compared To Sp Dynamo Pd8?
By
16 Mar 2016
May i know the difference between the two (power output, reliability etc) Can it work on Surly Orge (700C wheels with disc brake)

Thanks
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

The internals of these two hubs are effectively the same, the only real difference being this version can be used with forks that have a 15mm bolt through axle rather than just quick release. They are both still compatible with your bike though.

Thanks.
Will This Hub Work With Conventional Road Bike Forks?
By
01 Sep 2015
Apologies, I don't know what Maxles or QR reducers are. With the reducers in place (presumably some kind of adapter to convert from a Maxle) will this hub work in a conventional road bike fork with the addition of a conventional (ie. the kind found on most road bikes 15 years ago) quick release skewer?
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

Maxle is just a 15mm bolt through standard brought in by Rock Shox, the QR reducers are just adapters designed to reduce the axle size on the hub down to standard quick release (QR) the same as used on most road bikes. With the adapter fitted this hub should fit your bike without any issues.

Thanks.
Is The Reducer Included? Thanks

SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

Yes the reducer to take the axle down to quick release is included.

Thanks.
