Sadly Disappointed

I really wanted the Plug to be a great product - I had it delivered to my local bike shop for fitting to my Genesis Tour De Fer. It was tricky to fit so I'm glad I left it to the pros. I was impressed with the status LED that told me how much charge the battery had and if the power was charging or being directed to my lights. My Android phone charged well during normal cycling. All was good until dark when, at slower speed (e.g. cycling up inclines), the Plug couldn't decide whether to send power to my lights or to charge the battery. The result was an intermittent front light which was annoying and dangerous in unlit areas. I contacted Cinq and they suggested returning the unit to them for investigation. With no guarantee of success plus the hassle factor of returning the unit to Germany I spoke to the dealer who recommended the simplicity of the Sine Wave Reactor charger. I took the advice and swapped and so far I'm very happy. Shame about the Plug but I need lights that work.

I'll ask the question in a different way. Is it compatible with steel fork?

Metal forks use the star nut to connect fork, handlebar and frame together.
Carbon fiber uses the compression plug.
Hi there,

This uses the compression plug but you should be ok to use this on a steel fork.

Thanks.
Is this compatible with steel frame bikes?

The frame is irrelevant to this item as it fits into the steerer tube of the fork.

Hi, I see the wire runs internally in the steerer,
By

what if any is the situation where the fork cannot accomadate this? As in no hole at the bottom of the steerer to allow acces/exit for the wire to dynamo hub. Can it be run externally? Thanks in advance.
Then this product would not be suitable, and this might be better - SJS Cycles part number : 43658
