Availible With 20 Holes?
01 Jul 2016
Would it be possible to ge the DHF702 hub dynamo with 20 holes? I have a 20 hole rim on my Dahon folding bike already.

This hub is only available in a 24 hole drilling I'm afraid.

What 16" 349 Rims Can This Be Used With?
27 Jan 2015
You mainly sell Sun brand in 16" 349 rims (Brompton rims being restricted for sales to USA for some reason), the CR18 being most interesting to me, but NONE in 24h, so how is this hub to be built into a 16 inch wheel by SJS since the hub is only in 24h? This is not an unreasonable question since, it being 74mm OLD, it is clearly meant for small bikes such as folding bikes. In fact, other front dynamo hubs that I have found on the internet with 74mm OLD have even LESS hole count, the BioLogic Joule 3 having 20h at most for example. How in the world is one to match a rim to these dynamo hubs? Are there ANY hubs AT ALL ANYWHERE with 74mm OLD with AT LEAST 28h to be compatible with your Sun rims? I cannot find any 16" 349 rims with less than 28h in fact.

This 74mm hub was originally designed for use with Dahon bikes, Shimano made these dynamo hubs as part of their Capreo small wheel groupset, which we used to stock a large amount of a few years ago but there are not many parts left. We stocked these hubs as part of the groupset and have sold a number as hubs only for people to build into their existing rims. We sell a number of dynamos that should be compatible, the Brompton sold dynamo has an OLN of 75mm and comes in 28hole. We also sell the Schmidt Son XS hub designed for Dahon bikes with a 74mm OLN and 28 holes.

is it possible to make this dynamo suitable for 100mm OLD with a distance ring or spacer or something??

Thanks for finding this out for me.

No I'm afraid this is not possible as the hub's axle which is the part that sits into the forks and is designed to support the weight only comes out of the hub far enough to fit into the forks. If you were to try and space it out to a wider axle spacing then you would put the weight and strain on the quick release skewer which isn't designed to take that weight and ultimately would fail.
