replacement fork

I am interested in this fork as a replacement for my existing fork on a van nicholas ventus.
i would like a steel fork, not a carbon one, and am wondering if this would be a suitable replacement. this is the fork that is currently on my bike:
do you have any thoughts on whether this would work? i understand it would be heavier (by 500grms or so?) any time at all you take to reply is much appreciated. many thanks, joe
