ProsValue for money
Great fork for my bespoke touring bike. Gives me all the utility I will need whilst being, comfortable , responsive and great quality. You can’t go wrong with the Reynolds 531 tubing.

I recommend this product
I bought this fork as a replacement for an old fork, badly bent after an accident. It being a steel fork there's no reason for me to doubt a long life (barring accidents :-)) but for now I can commend the easy installation and super finish, it certainly looks good!

How much does this fork weigh, & could it be used to replace a Surly Long Haul trucker?

Looking for a lighter, more forgiving fork for my titanium tourer with Long Haul Trucker fork. Would this be likely to work?
The fork weights 1.18kg, yes it could replace the LHT fork, The Thorn fork is a higher quality steel so should be more forgiving.

What fork offset ?
12 Sep 2017
I need to buy a 700c fork. I am wondering whether to buy a 50mm or 55mm offset ? How should I decide which offset ? I am 6' 2" tall, the bike that I am building has a 585mm seat tube, 575mm top tube, 455mm chainstay, 182mm headtube. I think 55mm may be better because, as the bike is for long distance high speed touring, 55mm gives me a longer wheelbase, also it will absorb more road shock than a 50mm ?

Unfortunately these forks were originally designed for use with our own frames with the two offsets relating too different frame sizes and options so we don't know which option would be best for another frame. Different frames will require different amounts of offset so it will depend on your frame. In theory the 55mm offset will give a small amount more but we don't know how the longer offset would effect the handling on your frame.

Tyre Size

Meant to ask before, what would be the widest tyre with/without mudguards?
Hi, widest with mudguard 700 x 38 with a slick tyre, 700 x 42 without a mudguard so long as the tyre itself isn't a full knobbly tyre. Regards
Fork Length

Can you let me know the fork length of the 531ST steel touring fork. Is it the same for the 50mm and 55mm offset versions? I'm looking to replace a fork with a quoted length of 403mm.
Hi, the axle to crown measurement of this fork is 387mm, this will be the same for both offset options. Regards
