Thank you for your enquiry, yes will be fine however being 31.8mm clamp it will only fit on the oversize section of the handlebars

Is there any reason why I can't remove the SA shifter and use a Shimano friction shifter for use with an external rear mech? Tbh I just need a 27.2 shifter mount. Thanks!

Can I mount this on a down tube?

Hi,

The bracket is wide enough to fit wothout the shim, but does the lever pivot from its position in the picture so I can use on my down tube?

Hi there,

The band does not have a opening, so unless you bent the band open and back, which will probably snap it, you will not be able to fit this to anything but a seat post.

Can this Seat post version be mounted on handlebars?
What is the difference between Seat Post version and Handlebar version?
I want to install it on 26mm handlebars.

Hi there,

You could fit this onto a handlebar, it is 31.8mm and comes with a 27.2mm shim, so you would need to source an alternative shim to suit.

Could this be used with a standard derailleur?

Looking for a 31.6mm handlebar shifter to use with a Shimano Ultegra FD6800 front derailleur. Is this exclusively for internal hubs? If so, please could you recommend an alternative? Thanks.

This shifter is ONLY for hub gears. The ONLY solution I can think of is to mount a shimano shifter on to Paul Mountain Thumbies Bar End Gear Lever Shifter Mounts - 31.8 mm Band On - Shimano Version - Silver (our part number 29187)

Unfortunately Shimano and Sturmey Archer use different cable pulls for their hubs so this means that their shifters are not interchangeable I'm afraid.
