Not used these yet but the plan is to enable me to renew gear cable outers without re tapeing the bars, could work.

ConsYou can live without thes, so more of a luxury.
Prosbetter control of housing location, more comfortable grip.
These fit under the bar tape and help both protect the tape from pulling stress on the cable housing, and protect the housing from pressures on the tape.

I also found the depending where you placed the on the bars, they added a nice ergo grip that fitted my hands better.
Essential And Often Overlooked Part Of Installing Sti Levers

ConsAnnoying that they don't come with your £300 STI levers
ProsEssential for proper installation of STI levers
These are recommended by Shimano for installing cables under bar tape, even in grooved bars. Many people think they are unnecessary, but I think they prevent the cable outer from being held short of the end stop by the taping, and thus making actuation of brakes or gears less precise. This plastic arch/tunnel holds the tape clear of the cable outers, allowing them to move and take up the slack without fuss. Recommended!

ConsBulk up the handlebars slightly
ProsEasily fitted, comfortable
I bought these to use with some handlebars without cable grooves. (I must admit that I'm not convinced that they're necessary, but Shimano seem to think they're a good idea.) In any case, I found them easy to fit, and comfortable in use.
