This was to replace a Campag record H/S (that I had just bought) that was too tall for my old colnago. Fitted easily and looks good.
Decent Kit.

ProsStack height/price.
Bought this as a replacement for the same headset that was worn out.
Has been good and reliable through winter riding etc, and as I have very few choices due to stack height requirement, it had to be another of these.
Great quick service from SJS. Thanks.

ProsLow stack, good quality, good value
Used headset on a much loved, 20+ year old tandem after repairs to stripped threads on its steerer tube. Low stack height allowed me to install headset using the bottom, undamaged threaded section of the steerer. This then left enough room to fit the brake hanger above the whole headset assembly rather than between the headset locknut and adjustable race. It was this latter arrangement that had been partially responsible for the threads stripping in the first place! Tandems are hard on headsets so I also substituted loose ball bearings for the supplied caged ones, thereby permitting about 50% more balls to be installed. Not essential, but I'm convinced that it improves headset life considerably! It has all worked out very nicely indeed. Thank you Tange and SJS Cycles.

ProsLow stack, cheap!
Low stack height, meant I was able to mount a decalluer in the headset stack where I wasn't before. Will have to see how long it lasts.
Successful Maintenance Thanks To Tange

The stack height is correct should this fit?
Given the frames age it would suggest a 1" headset is needed so yet it should work. SK 14/05/24

Hello there. Will this unit work with my Dutchie Dapper? http://www.dutchie.co.uk/en-GB/bicycles/men/dutchie-dapper-eight-speed

1 inch steerer, 30mm inside diameter head tube and 26.4mm crown race. Cheers!
This should work, however, the height of which your stem may sit might be a little different.

Hi, I assume this is the satin silver (as pictured), not the chrome version? Thanks.

I have a 1980 Carlton cyclone will this head set fit my bikeThanks
By

I don't think so IF you have the original fork. Carlton (by Raleigh) used 26 TPI (threads per inch) this headset is the standard 24 TPI. take the fork out and count the number of threads per inch, if that's ok (24) check the other dimensions

Can I use this with a Raleigh banana?
By

The steerer tube is 205mm and head tube is 172mm with 30mm inside diametre which would leave me with a stack height of 33.. I still have a bit in the steerer that I could remove.
Hi,

You may need to fit an additional spacer, otherwise you should be okay to use this headset with your bike.

Thanks.
Stack Height

Hi,
Not sure whether to go for the Falcon or the Passage .... which would be the more robust and trouble free long life? Stack height on present headset is 35 mm plus about 3mm for cable hanger ( 1990's Stumjumper MTB) what would you suggest?
Hi, the Falcon is sealed cartridge so long term will most likely last longer as you don't have to worry about the cage holding the bearings disintegrating in the headset. That being said we have sold the Passage for at least 10 years so its very popular. I would personally go for the Falcon with its sealed bearing.

Will This Work On A 1980S Colnago Super Frame ?
By
25 Sep 2016
Hi
Planning a replacement of a 1 inch threaded headset on my Colnago Super. Any known issues on such frame before I order? Really want a short stack headset like this Passage.
Thanks!
Andrei
Hi,

As we have never stocked Colnago frames we unfortunately don't have any way of knowing headset compatibility with your frame I'm afraid. If your frame takes standard ISO 1 Inch headsets then this headset should fit fine.

Thanks.
Does It Have French Thread?
By
06 Sep 2014
I have an old french bike with a really short stack height head set. I would like to know if the item you offer match my needs.
Regards
Hi,

Unfortunately none of the headsets we carry will work with the old French threading on forks.

Thanks.
