Hi
I arrive at your excellent site by looking for a replacement headset for my friends old cannondale M400 MTB. The original seems to be a tenge seiki me.II or maybe se.II. Would this be compatable do you know?
SJS Customer Service:
As we are not a Cannondale dealer we cannot advise as to a suitable replacement and suggest contacting Cannondale for the regional headset specification for your bike and using that information to find a modern compatible alternative.

Very good headset

ConsNeeds to be fitted with proper tools
ProsLight, good value
Good quality, light cartridge headset. Stack height low enough for most framesets (NEVER cut down your fork - add a spacer if you have too much steerer!). As it's alloy, use a proper headset press and good quality spanners to fit and adjust it or you will mark it.

The bearing cartridges are the same as Cane Creek.

The Tange Technoglide headset is very similar if you want a threadless version (e.g. for a modern Moulton, which uses threadless 1" forks).

Prosprice and fit
Quality headset at a budget price for my steely. Sort of a satin finish instead of chrome but looks good matching the aged alu groupset which Ive polished up. cartridge bearings which I am sure can be replaced as and when.

Pros30.2 mm cups
three years, lasted much longer than the cheaper options before the bearing was hammered.
It was the only 30.2 cup I could find, thus no need to fit the 30mm cups with a bit of beer can for my old imperial BSA

Easy to fit, slightly lower stack height so had to shorten steerer. Silky smooth once installed.

ConsRefined..maybe a little too refined for an old tourer?
Prosvery nice quality components
I used this to replace the headset on my 1990's Dawes Galaxy. Very nice components but perhaps a little too refined for an old tourer. I had no trouble with the threads (1" ISO) as per the other review here. The bearing cups were a very tight fit in the frame and seemed to be more of an interference fit than the headset I removed. Had to get the crown race fitted by a bike shop with the appropriate tool.

Consnot as described
Prosnone
This is NOT an iso 1"headset! I've just ruined a set of forks filing down the steererto fit what I thought was just a tight crown race only to find that the threads on the top race and locknut do not match those on my 1 " steerer - tried on an old 1" fork just to check with same result. To say I'm fed up is an understatement I now need a new threaded fork and another headset. A refund on the now stripped headset would be small compensation
Stack Height

Details on the box :
Stack height 23.96 + 11.3 = 35.26mm
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,

The 35mm stack height listed on the box does not include the spacer that is supplied with the headset. The stack height including this spacer is 38mm.

Thanks.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I currently have an FSA Orbit 1 inch threadless headset fitted to my bike. I need an extra crown race because i plan to fit s carbon fork to my bike. FSA orbit 26.4mm crown races are impossible to find but would the crown race from this headset work. Can you offer any advice. If you think they would be a match, it would be worth purchasing just for the crown race.

Cheers.
Hello & thank you for your enquiry.
As you are seeking the 26.4 mm head race only, suggest sjs part number 19671 for this purpose.
Kind regards PC 20/6/23.
ISO Standard screw thread?
By
27 Nov 2020
Hi there,
This 1” headset looks fine for my 33 year old Dawes tourer but one or two comments below state (emphatically) that the thread is not compatible with the locknut. My fork will have an “English” thread on it. Can I be certain it will fit? Stack height and other dimensions all look compatible.
Thanks
This is 99% likely to fit- as unless you have an old French or Italian bike the threading will most likely be English which is the most common standard.

can you suggest a headset to fit an eighties carlton corsair 1" threaded fork?

Sorry but without having the frame in the shop to measure we cannot advise as to what headset will be suitable.

Headset question ?
By
11 Sep 2020
Hi, I have a Sannino frame with 1 inch fork steerer, it is av Italian frame from 80s, headtube is around 30mm internally, tubing is Columbus Gilco, do you know what headset will fit? What is the thread on the forks? Are they standard on all forks? Regards, GM
Hello, as there a multitude of different headset standards all specific to the model of the bike- I'm afraid we cannot advise as to what parts you require based on bike model alone. We highly recommend you visit your local independent bike shop for help identifying the parts and standards used on your bike.
Is there a threadless version? Thanks.

Can I use this with 30.2mm frame head tube and fork fith 27mm integrated fork crownrace?
By
07 Jan 2020
I have a steel frame with 30.2mm headtube diameter and a carbon fork with integrated crownrace witch is 27mm will the fork fit into the stacionary lower cup of the headset?
The cups will work but the crown race will not be suitable on a the 27.0mm crown.

Thanks - 07/01/20
Does it come with a box
By
05 Jul 2019
Does it come with original packaging, because I got other headset from you and it was in a plastic bag, I'd rather original box.

Thanks
As of 09/07/19 all our stock is in a plastic bag contained within a white cardboard box, there is no Tange branding or logos printed on the box. RT
Will this fit my frame?
By
16 Sep 2018
I have bought a Lemond Maillot Jaune 853 frame and forks. The spec sheet for the model gives the headset as Tange Seiki alloy precision 22.2/30.2/26.4 25.4mm stack.
I think I can match up the first 3 numbers to this headset, but this has a higher stack. if that just means my bars end up 10mm higher, then that's OK. If it means it won't fit, then I'd rather know now please.
Given the headset description in the spec sheet, can you recommend any other silver headsets to fit too please?
Thanks Nick
We would suggest this would fit, but you would need to check whether the stack height is 1. correct, and 2. going to allow the headset to thread onto the fork correctly.

Thanks
ISO standard?

One of the reviews says this headset isn’t threaded for standard forks - is that correct?
Hi there,

As long as your steerer can take a 1" headset you will be absolutely fine.

Thanks.
