11 speed compatible

Hi, I’m so confused trawling the net for compatibility.
I have an old QR Deore XT rear wheel hub, FH-M785.
Will this free hub allow me to move up to 11 speed?
Sorry to ask, but some questions may have been answered several years ago.

SJS Customer Service:

You cannot upgrade Shimano freehubs, only replace them. this freehub would take 11-speed MTB cassettes only!

Will this feeehub take a 7 speed cassette with a spacer i.e is ir suitable for 8 speed cassett?

This item comes as pictured, the freehub bodies are not designed to be taken apart so yes, all of the internal parts are present and complete.

Hi,

Unfortunately due to the age of your hub the original replacement part has been discontinued and Shimano do not list a compatible replacement for it. There may be a modern alternative that fits and works but unfortunately as we have never tested any we cannot say for sure I'm afraid.

This freehub body will be able to take an 11spd Shimano MTB cassette but will you will not be able to fit an 11spd road cassette.

I'm afraid not, the only compatible freehub available for your hub is the one for the FH-M970 and FH-7850 our SJSC part number for this item is 29201.
