Details
With a brand-new IQ Tec P mirror from the specialists at Busch and Muller the new Edelux 2 leaves the older model literally in the shadows. The light field is twice as wide and focused mainly in the distance, putting most of the light further down the road allowing you to better assess whats coming, whilst still not leaving a 'dim' patch infront of the rider.

ProsWell made, powerful road light, Stylish, Built to last, Long Warranty
This is the second Schmidt Edelux I have owned. I also have the earlier version and have upgraded to the Edelux II.

I have it matched to a SON Nabendynamo Classic Hub fitted to a 700c Mavic A719 Rim. On the rear I have a Busch & Muller Topline Braketec. All with standard coaxial wiring.

The Edelux II is a super design and is robustly made just like the previous version. It is unobtrusive and with the variety of colour options means that matching the light with a bikes livery is much easier.

Fitting the lamp is straight forward. The lamp unit is a sealed so any servicing requires the item to be returned to the seller. The unit comes with a 5 year warranty. The light is upgraded from the original version to provide 90 Lux but as these specifications are always a bit confusing, as Lux and Lumens are not directly comparable, my advice is to Google for information on how the light illuminates an area in front of the bike. There are plenty of sites with great comparisons. In a nutshell, the Edelux II illuminates the road, directly in front, very well for speeds up to about 30 mph, whilst providing good illumination to the sides. It wouldn't be bright enough for extreme, downhill, off road, night riding but on a well groomed trail it is fine. Its fair to say that, off road, I would always go for a high powered supplementary Lithium Ion battery system.

The standlight works well and charges at very low speed, the auto light function works great, and the light reaches full brightness at the claimed 10 mph.

Customer service is great. Schmidt replaced my 4 year old lamp, which had developed condensation behind the lens, without fuss. All it cost was returning the lamp to the seller. Took about two weeks. So buy with confidence.

can i use this light with a shimano 6v 1.5w hub ?
By

This will probably not be powered by a 1.5w hub, the standard is 3w and this is what most lights require.

Thanks - 23/11/18
Does the bracket supplied with this lamp fit the centre bolt of a standard front calliper?

Yes, it comes with a standard mount that fits either into the fork column or on the caliper brake bolt.

Thanks
Length of cable to buy?

If I want to mount this light directly onto the fork crown, is 36cm length cable generally long enough from hub to bracket? (Bike is a Genesis Equilibrium Disc). Or should I go for 60cm? I'd like it to look neat with minimum of cable wrap etc.
HI,

Generally 36cm will be quite snug, I would recommend going longer and adjusting to the perfect length to fit your bicycle.
36cm, 60cm have the connectors included and pre-fitted. The 140cm version includes connectors but they are not fitted so that the cable can be cut down by customers to the required length before applying connectors.
Thanks.
