Questions & Answers (5) Q & A
RL770 Strong headlight and rear for luggage carrier. Rear light: constant light with back up.

The RL700 is the right choice if you need a bike light which lights up the road where there is little or no street lighting. It is a no-friction dynamo with a front light with a powerful beam and which throws a wide cone of light onto the carriageway. The bike light has side position lights which emit the light through small holes at angles of as much as 270 degrees, greatly increasing visibility in the traffic. Both the front and rear lights have E6-approved reflectors. The front light is fitted to the fork crown above the front wheel. The rear light is fitted to the luggage carrier. RL700 front and rear lights are powered by a dynamo which is mounted on the seat stay.

The bike light produces its own environmentally friendly induction of power by means of a coil in the dynamo and magnets on the bicycle spokes - completely without the use of batteries. The lights are permenantly mounted, so you always have them with you. The light is always on whenever you cycle, which makes you extra safe in the traffic - day and night. Magnet-powered bike lights mean no more flat batteries, no forgotten bike lights, no friction when you cycle - just lights which are always on and always safe.

I recommend this product
ConsWeighty for the gram shavers!
ProsFit and forget, always there.
Fitted and used for the last 3 months, absolutely brilliant. No problem cycling in rain, through puddles or hosing down. They're always there and always on: fit, forget and stay street legal! There are quite bright, very adequate for "to be seen", but front light will not light up the road much. I use a Cateye LED for that. Rear light stays on a few minutes after stopping too.

Can I fit this to a giant rapid, the bolt for the mudguard is at the rear of the crown
27 Dec 2017
Hi there,

The only way to fit would be to modify the bracket or use a different mounting.

Can I fit this in a front carrier?
19 Dec 2017
I have an elephant bike with large basket on the front so crown mounting would be difficult

The light can fit in a number of places, if you cannot mount it to the crown then you may need to find an adaptor and mount it to the carrier or lower on the fork.

How Long Is The Wire To The Front Please? Long Enough For A Tandem?
11 Apr 2017

The front light cable is 140cm long so would not be long enough as it is for a tandem. As it is only twin-core wire though you could easily splice extra cabling into it to extend it to reach on a tandem.

Power Output
12 Jan 2016
Does this unit produce enough power to work with other LED dynamo front lights if I was to upgrade it?

The information about the power output of this dynamo system is not something that is available from the manufacturer and we do not have the facilities to test this ourselves I'm afraid. We can't even just test it with another light unfortunately.

Roller Brake Compatible?
16 Sep 2015
The picture suggests that this model is compatible with a roller brake, but can you confirm? I have a roller brake and hub gears on the rear and a roller brake on the front.

This light/Dynamo set can be mounted in a position on the wheel away from the roller brake allowing it to be compatible with wheels that have a roller brake fitted.
