I recommend this product
ConsOne of the 2 stiffer to release bag than the other?
ProsEasy to fit, swap around, got SJS service
Bought with 2nd Bagman QR ( without the bag support wire). Fitted to Thorn XTC so removed the rear rack. Support wire can be removed and fitted to the other bike Bagman (on a Brompton) if I need to fit larger Nelson Bag, or remove if I use the smaller Barley Bag, but Barley appears to fit this. larger support. Gives plenty options

ConsBag will no longer fit on other bikes without adapting those also.
ProsMakes saddlebags QD and they sit better on the bike.
I had to study the SJS web site quite a lot to understand exactly what I was buying but customer reviews were helpful in pointing me towards the Expedition version for my Camper Long-flap bag. Saves faffing about threading leather straps through saddle loops and the bag now sits much better on the bike so that it now no longer sags over the back rack or tries to wrap itself around the seat pin. There is still the seat pin strap to play about with but sometimes I don't bother with that. I also bought the plain clamp version without the support frame so that I can use the saddle bag on another bike.
Great, but..

Consneeds some finishing touches
Proslight, convenient, effective
Yes, this IS compatable with (some) sprung saddles! It's good I forgot the instructions this time. It's a great way of carrying moderate loads, if there's space for the bag over the wheel. But (reading the review of bolt failure), some fixture between the first bend at the top and the black bagman clamp would take some of the bending force off tthe bolt and reduce the risk of failure when out on a ride. Until then, make sure your saddlebag has a shoulder strap, or you might have a very long walk!

ConsNot cheap
ProsDoes the job well
Well made, works well with Super C saddlebag. Fitted to B17 saddle. Chose this one as it doesn't lift the saddle bag above the saddle (compared to Classic support).

ProsEasy to fit and use. Secures the bag and stops the bag swinging from side to side.
I bought this for my daughter who had a bike with no pannier rack fittings. She has an old Karrimor saddlebag so there was a bit of work to fit the bracket to the bag (a lot easier with a Carradice bag) but it works brilliantly. Easy to fit to the saddle and even easier to use. I've been using one for a few years and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

ConsFor me - none at all
ProsWell made - quick and easy to fit
Ordered this along with the Carradice Camper Longflap saddlebag.
I found it very easy to fit to my Brooks B17 and getting the bag on and off is a breeze. It supports the bag very well and the strap keeps everything steady

Hi,

yes, this should be fine,

thanks.
How much space do i need between my saddle and wheel to install the bagman expedition

Hi there,

The height of the Bagman is 25cm, so we would suggest allowing 30cm+ to tyre for clearance.,

Thanks
I Have An Older Expedition Which Is A Lot Bigger Than The One I Just Received. What Happened?

The new one does not support the whole bottom of my Camper. Somewhat disappointed.
Hi Craig I suggest you contact customer services so we can work out what has happened. Thanks.
Weight Limit?
By
18 Mar 2017
It says maximum load of 10 kg. Is this measured with the bag or is it camping gear/grouceries alone? Ido have a Camper and it weight is almost 1kg. How will it be with 9kg loaded rig on the Bagman and you are touring of road with lots of potholes will it support the weight or will the rails break?
Hi,

The maximum load will include the weight of the bag so if your bag weighs 1kg then you'll only be able to load it with 9kgs worth or items. The Bagman is designed to cope with most road conditions when fully loaded at 10kgs, so will cope with the occasional pot hole, however it is not designed for off road or track use so we would not recommend taking it into these conditions when fully loaded.

Thanks.
Does The Expedition Rack Fit For The Junior Bag Too?
By
23 Nov 2016
I own a Carradice Junior Saddle Bag wich is perfect for day rides. For the longer tours I will buy a bigger bag such as the Nelson or Camper Longflap, but I dont't want to buy two different racks. Since the height difference between Junior and Nelson is only 1cm this shouldn't be much of problem?!
Hi,

You will be fine to fit your Junior saddle bag to this Expedition Bagman rack as well.

Thanks.
Is There Another Carradice Camper Quick Release Alternative For Brooks Saddle With Springs?
By
30 May 2016
I have a Brooks saddle with springs. I want to purchase the Carradice Camper saddlebag along with a Quick Release system. I see however that the Original bagman quick release support expedition is not suitable for sprung saddles. Is there another one that I could use with the Brooks sprung saddle. Thank you
Hi,

The only thing we'd be able to recommend instead would be the Carradice SQR uplift system as this fits to the seatpost rather than the saddle rails like the Bagman system. These are SJSC part number 621.

Thanks.
