In the end I didn’t need to use my new Ortlieb bar bag attachment cable - this time! But it’s a great spare to have to hand. Removing an Ortlieb bar bag almost certainly means using a new cable for refitting.

Bought this as after removing the handlebar mount from the bike after 3 years. The old cable could not be reused. This is the solution to re-fit your handlebar mount. Unfortunately I overtightened the main cable bolt and damaged the mount! Had to get a whole new mount set :( Recommend using some Copperease on the bolts and not to over tighten any of the three bolts!

Easy to fit first time and does a great job. Problem is if you need to remove it it is near impossible to use again due to the squashing of the cable which makes it hardy to thread into the holes.

Having changed our main touring bikes we needed to transfer the bar bags. The original cable, having been clamped, crimped and generally frayed at the ends was like trying to fit a ships hawser through a polo mint.
Found these new cables on 'SJS' and saved myself a load of hassle.
Exactly the same as the original cable they comes complete with the updated instructions for fitting, which are in a clear and precise pictogram format.
Just remember to retain the original bolts for attachment and clamping to the bag bracket.

It does exactly what it is supposed to do! I needed this because I had moved the bag holder from bike to another a few times, and the original cable has gone bad. You might want to know that the bolts required in the installation of the holder with this cable are not supplied, but those are easily found at your local hardware store in case those are bad as well.
