Overall Product Rating 4.5 / 5
Functional, cheap but not so robust

ConsNot robust design
ProsGood price. Flexible and functional
Waterproof, the top hooks work as does the rucksack system. The padded laptop is good, although the Velcro closure is poor. But the bottom anti-sway hook/catch is poor: it's fiddly to adjust and the nut came off, so I was lucky not to lose the whole catch.
Also, the waterproof material split where it rubs on the inside top section of the plate where the top hooks are, thus making it not waterproof.

ConsInitial PVC smell. No internal pockets.
ProsDoes the job well. Good value and robust.
This is exactly what I was looking for, and half the price of all other pannier/rucksack combos I could find. Overall I'm pleased with it: the pannier hooks are very secure, and the lightweight, detachable rucksack straps take 10 seconds to fit and work surprisingly well. However, I do have some gripes. When it arrived it smelt strongly of PVC, and it took weeks for this to fade to a bearable level - with the aid of a tub of bicarb and ripped-up newspaper. I have Ortlieb PVC panniers too, and they never smelt like this. Also, on my bag, the straps along the side of the bag are very different lengths. This may be a one-off, but it makes me question Carradice's quality control. My final gripe is that there are no internal pockets at all. It comes with a bulky laptop protector, but somewhere to store small things like lights and tools would be very useful in such a large bag.

ConsBag straps not as good as rest of bag
ProsLots of space and good quality bag suitable for all weathers
A great pannier/rucksack with plenty of space. The bag itself seems sturdy and can handle all weathers. My only complaint would be it could do with a second support strap for around the waist and the straps could be better quality. These are minor details and I would recommend bag.
Practical Solution For Combining Cycling And Walking.

ConsNot quite as comfortable on your back as most rucksacks
ProsThe right colour to mend with gaffer tape!
With pannier hooks one side and rucksack straps the other, the roll-up top is the solution to not being able to have a covering flap. Although it’s tempting not to bother removing the straps for carrying on the bike, there’s a risk of them snagging, e.g. on bushes or gates. With only one pannier, the load is restricted due to being unbalanced on the bike. Using two rucksack panniers, one carried on your front and one on your back when on foot, is one solution: if you don’t already own any panniers then maybe buying two rucksack panniers is worth considering. An improvement I made was to fit another retaining catch, SJSC part no 33623, so I now have one alongside each hook instead of a single central one, for peace of mind against the bag bouncing off on bumpy roads. A final comment I would make about all panniers is that I find anti-sway catches unnecessary. They complicate the act of lifting the bag on and off, and I think panniers perform perfectly well without them.

Very functional rucksack panier, easy to use and fully waterproof. The laptop sleeve is a great add on and will add an additional layer of protection for your computer. The only downside to this panie

Proswaterproof, easy to convert, comfortable
After years of lugging a heavy pannier around with a single shoulder strap this has been a complete revelation. Very easy to convert and straps take barely any room in the bag. Very comfortable to wear as a backpack Been tested in some pretty heavy rain and completely waterproof. Hiviz reflective patches are a useful addition. But you need to remember to pack it so nothing pointy sticks into your back.

Hi,

I'm afraid not, the hooks supplied with this rucksack pannier can fit onto racks with a maximum diameter of 13mm.

Thanks.
