Great upgrade from original marin rims also damaged by French height barrier. Lovely quality, socketed eyelets for nipples, and sturdy build and great reviews.
Build up with Jtec spokes from SJSC.
Very pleased.

ProsLooks good, feels good

As it says, it is a touring rim. It feels rigid even before you build a wheel with it. It is not the lightest, but when you are touring, reliability is your first priority.

The braking surface is quite wide which means setting up your brake pads isn't so critical. As specified, it is drilled for Presta so I can't understand why someone asked if it comes with an adaptor.

I built wheels with Jtek plain gauge spokes and Shimano T670 hubs.

Well packed with a length of foam tube that, in the ethos of SJS, you could reuse as roof rack bar padding or to protect your bike if you fly with it.

I love over engineered things and these rims fall into that category.
If weight is an issue then don't go on a fully loaded tour!!

Low price or good value?

These seem very cheap for what they are. Would ordinarily question when things are so low price but is this just because they're mass manufactured and widely available?

What spoke length?

I just ordered two of these and the presta adapters from you. I will be building them up with Sunrace HBM53 hubs. I have always used 14g spokes in a 3X pattern. What length spoke do I need with these rims? My spoke calculator lists the rims but not the hubs so I need your brilliance to make things right.

SJS Customer Service:

We have no experience with the Sunrace hubs, so do not know the measurements. The Rim has an ERD of 607mm. If you have the hub measurements any spoke calculator will be able to work out spoke length for you.
