Excellent value rims

ConsFight to fit tyres without resorting to levers
ProsExcellent value and no "bump" at the rim joint
I was looking at Mavic Open Pro/Sport for a 1980's fixed wheel bike renovation project when I came across the reviews by Cycle_Tourist_59 and Anonymous 24 Jan 2020. Inspired by their reviews I ordered 2 rims and Jtek plain gauge spokes. This is a dream combination for an amateur wheel builder! The rims were as true as you could wish for and I found the rims easy to re-true after each round of spoke tensioning. After some 250 miles they have stayed true. However, the lack of a "Spoke Well" does make it a fight to fit tyres without using levers - a small price to pay in my opinion.

ProsLight, double eyeletted.
The rims have a polished finish and are quite narrow, would not look out of place on a vintage bike. I built wheels with Shimano T-610 silver hubs and Jtek plain gauge spokes.
I used spokes for ERD 607, see my review of 05/01/2020, and they look the right length.
Well packed for shipment and not scratched or blemished!
ERD 607

ConsERD not as stated
Please be aware that the rims are stamped with ERD 607, which is not the published ERD of 610. So after lacing and attempting to tension a rim, I found the spokes I ordered are too long.
SJS Customer Service:
607mm is correct, sorry our description was incorrect.

Retro Rigida Box Section Rims

I recommend this product
Strong old fashioned rims from the 90s. Narrow section, double eyelet-ted and originally branded Rigida when they were made in France. They are long lived with relatively thick braking surfaces. There is a history of slight size variation in the factory, so some tyres might be hard to get on and off. This end of line stock but it looks fine to me. They look very nice on steel frames bikes and are a fraction of the price of H Plus Son TB14 rims. The finish is silver anodised rather than polished. A bargain at the price SJS are asking for them.

I also used the wheel building service at SJS, which is really good and amazingly fast.

Are this polished or silver anodised?

The title says polished but a user review mentioned this are not polished..
As the photos are taken using a white background and studio lighting its hard to replicate the polished finish, but I assure you that they are polished.

Ryde Chrina 700c 622 Road Rim - Polished..What is recommended max tyre size....sorry I have previously asked same question but did not specify rim. Thank you
Hi, 28mm is about the max in most makes of tyre. You might get away with 32mm in very slick types. Thanks
