The B17 is Brooks' flagship model, ideal for long distance sports touring, trekking and ATB use. It has been on the market for over 100 years, being featured in as early as the 1898 catalogue. The model is available for gents and ladies: B17 (gents) and B17 S (ladies).

Consnot cheap
ProsComfort, looks
Compared to the Standard B17 or other variants such as the Flyer, the Select has thicker leather, beautiful hammered rivets and a natural color. It probably weighs a bit more, but if you are counting grams, then you'd already be looking at something else by now.

I'm about 400 miles in so far. Too soon to know how it will hold up long term. But at this point, it is nicely broken in, and very comfortable for 30 min rides with normal street clothes, or two hour rides in bike shorts. I'd say I am very happy with this saddle. It is great for a bike that you will use for long century rides or touring.
Brooks As Ussual

Consprice, hardness, weight
Proslook, sturdiness
This is my third Brooks after a Conquest and a Swift.
Bought it because the other ones stain my daily clothes when commuting in the heat of the summer.
This one is supposed to be untinted so I expect it to solve the problem (in a few months we will know).
The saddle is wider than the other ones and allows more changes of position in the seat which is a good thing.
It is also as heavy and hard as the Conquest is (The Conquest is still hard as wood after more than 15 years of use, but now has somehow molded to my rear and is bearable)
The tin of profide has been reduced by Brooks over the years to an ultrasmall size that gives no more that two uses at beast. Think of getting additional cans or looking for alternate and unsupported means of treat the leather if you are going to bother to do it.
The tension wrench was missing from the box (there was only an empty plastic fastener holding nothing) but was provided promptly by sjscycles.
Contrary to the legend, Brooks saddles have not been the paradise of comfort they talk about, but no bike saddle have never been (and I have tried quite a few over the years) so may be the problem is not the saddle but me.

ConsInitial price but you get quality
ProsLooks good, very strong
Applied a cout of Proofhide to the underside, and top. Then another two coats to the top every 24 hours before fitting to bike. Colour darkens slightly and I am sure it will darken further with time making it look even better. So far the comfort is good, again an aspect I am sure will improve in time. love it!
