Details

The classic all round spoke for everyday use. The 14 gauge spoke is 2mm thick throughout its length & is available in a wide range of sizes. Made from X5 stainless steel, containing chrome for rust resistance & nickel for strength. The rolling of the nipple thread removes no metal from the spoke & preserves the grain of the material, maximising strength. Comes supplied with 12mm DT brass nipples.

Weight: 444g for 64 x 264mm length spokes i.e. 7g per spoke.

These appear to be top quality spokes to my non trained eye. Until now I had never changed a spoke. They certainly appear better than the 1981 vintage ones that are currently on the wheels. I bought a pack of 6 for my 27" x 1 1/4" rear wheel when one of the non drive side spokes broke. I have since purchased a pack for the rear wheel drive side and the front wheel just in case. It's good that SJS Cycles stock so many different lengths.

I just had to replace some damaged spokes on a rear wheel I bought 16 years and many thousands of miles ago. Original had DT swiss spokes, and these new ones are identical, beautifully made, and a pleasure to use. I am sure they will last another 16 years!

Good enough for 12 spokes destroyed when chain link disassembled and chain wrapped itself around the rear sprocket.on 48 spoke rear tandem wheel! Luckily we were only 100yards from home on return from ride.

Spoke preparation

I purchased 14/15g DT Competition Stainless Steel Double Butted Spoke with 12 mm Brass Nipple.

My question is what is the recommended preparation for these spokes and nipples? Is oil recommended and if yes what type and where? Is thread lock recommended?

Hi,

Our Master Wheel builder recommends boiled Linseed oil as it will allow you to adjust the nipples as well as holding them firm.

Hi,

These spokes are a smaller diameter than the Brompton spokes that would have originally fitted to your bike. There are two different lengths they could be also depending on what age you bike/rims are; if you have the older single wall rims (pre-2013) you need the 149mm spokes which are SJSC part 31254. If you have the newer double wall rims (post-2013) then you need 146mm spokes which are SJSC part 31167.

could you recommend a spoke key from your site to fit these spokes(I,m not quite sure what size fits?) thanks

Hi,

Any 14G spoke key will fit the nipples supplied with these spokes. The tooling flats on the nipple are 3.25mm apart so any spoke key that is this size will fir. We normally recommend the Rixen and Kaul Spokey SJSC part 24970.

Hi There Do You Have These In 205Mm??

I need very strong spokes for a foldup bike alexrim da22 (451X14 double wall)

The spokes are breaking on me as i am 95kg
I took off a spoke an it measures 205mm
I need black spokes..
Do you have a recommendation

Unfortunately we don't have these or any black spokes in the 205mm length. The closest we have is our British made spokes SJSC part number 3145 which are available in a 204mm and a 206mm lengths.
