ConsCame with small scratch / chip on top surface.
ProsQuality and easy to fit
Great quality finish. Mine came with a slight scratch / chip on the top surface but the overall stem is beautifully done. The plastic inserts can fall out during fitting so be careful. I haven't been able to test it on a ride yet.
Good service

ProsEasy to fit, effective, good value
Very impressed with this. Whilst the suspension is very unobtrusive - you can't feel the bar moving as such - I was very pleased at how it softened the vibrations on rough road surfaces or towpaths.
Adds a minimal amount of weight, sensibly priced, and I think it looks pretty good too.
I have purchased two stems that says it all

If. You work out the angles it seems to make sense that more deflection will be apparent in the longer stem.I find my 80mm one takes all the high frequency vibration out and that suits me fine. A clever piece of kit. Regards Dennis
Variable results. Not a good fit.

I got this for a gravel bike that is mostly used on canal paths where the surface varies from smooth tarmac to gnarly tree routes.
The main issue I have is that it is slightly shorter at the steerer end than the stem on the bike -possibly less than 1mm, but enough to cause a noticeable "give" on the steerer.
I found it difficult to set the shock absorber to give good results over all the route, different torques suit different surfaces. Any reduction in vibration is minimal.

Consa bit chunky. Not obvious why it needs to slope down.
Proseasy to fit, useful reduction in vibration
It's hard to be precise, but my commute no longer seems quite as bumpy on my hands, and the (less useful) gel tape may no longer be needed on my bars. There's no visible movement in this stem and slight adjustment possible in the nominal shock absorbtion I've yet to see if the rubber damper lasts 5 weeks or 5 years.

Consdoes it really work?
Prosnot expensive and low weight compared to rivals
I bought this hoping to reduce the level of vibration effecting my hands after long rides on a titanium bike with carbon forks. Already had gel gloves, good bar tape and tyres at 100psi. Very little flex, none noticeable but does appear to have prevented that pins and needles that can occur

Measurment
By

Is the length measured from the center of the steerer tube to the center of the handlebar or the overall length of the stem.
If you from the drop dow menu all the stem lengths are show, measured from center of the steerer tube to center of the bars.

Hope this helps
Is it possible to turn this stem for a more relaxed seat position?
By

No, this must be -7 degree.

Would these stems fit my Thorn Raven 2013
By
02 May 2020
yes it will fit the steerer but can only be used the way up shown in the photo. If you needed lots more height you could use it in conjunction with a stem raiser such as Humpert Ahead Stem Raiser - 1 1/8 Inch Steerer to 1 1/8 Inch Stem - Black (SJS Cycles part number : 29875) RT
Do you have a 1.25 inch stem option?

Hi there,

Unfortunately we do not have an option in that size im afraid.

Thanks.

Flexible Polymer
By
27 Oct 2017
The instructions say the polymer is a wearable part. What is the expected lifetime of this? Is it available as a separate replacement item?
Hi,

We have not had any wear out yet so unfortunately do not have an accurate idea of the expected life span of this part. At this time we are unfortunately not able to offer them as a separate part.

Thanks.
Would this stem be ok to use with a carbon fibre steartube?
By
09 Oct 2017
I own a Salsa Fargo equipped with a carbon fork and I am wondering if it would be ok to use something like this to further smooth out the off-road riding.
Thank you
Hello,

You should be able to use this without an issue, however we have not personally tried this so we cannot say for certain.

Thanks.
Can The Stem Be Flipped To 7 Degrees
By

Hi,

Unfortunately due to the nature of the design of these they cannot be flipped.

Thanks.
