Internal gear hubs require specific maintenance - Shimano's Internal hub maintenance oil simplifies this task and makes sure that you're using the right stuff
To use this genuine Shimano oil dipping kit simply dip the internal unit in the special oil for 90 seconds, then let the surplus oil drip from the unit and reassemble it into the wheel
As every part is lubricated continuously, a higher durability of the internal mechanism is the result

Nexus hub lube query.

I plan to oil the SG-C6001-8D hub using Y00298010.

I understand that I remove nuts, disc, etc on the left, slide the whole mechanism out (to the right) and dip it into 95 ml of special oil.

Are the ball bearings on the left side off at this stage? If not the grease would be thinned out by the oil. I'd guess that they are off, otherwise the instructions would mention this.

It looks pretty simple but I am put off by the really complicated videos shown on Youtube.

Also, what size are the cone nuts?
DO NOT immerse the bearings in the oil as this will strip the of grease- the 95mm will level is designed to create a pool of oil that will immerse parts that require special lubrication and nothing else.

How many hub lubrications can be expected from this kit? How much oil is included?

I’d like to determine if this is better value than using seveal of the smaller container
Hi there,

Unfortunately, we do not have any experience with this so we cannot say for certain how many you could get from this kit I'm afraid. The tub does also not say anything about how much oil is included either I'm afraid.

Thanks.
