130 OLN follow up question
By
31 May 2020
Following up on the 130 OLN frame question, I have an 8 speed bike (steel frame), can this hub be reduced to 130 OLN? thanks
Hi, no, you should start with the correct width hub. Thanks
Can I swap this for a Mavic Axiom Rear.

My new bike came with the 130mm OLN rear wheel, but the frame is 135mm OLN.
Is this legal? More to the point, is it safe and good practice?
If this is a brand new bike, go back to the supplier. If the frame is 135mm, yes this wheel is suitable.

Thanks - 01/06/20
Thanks for your response - it is a shimano cassette, so no problem there

The only (and main) concern is that my existing rear hub is 130mm and I believe the hub on this rim is 135mm. The bike has a carbon frame - so will a 135 hub squeeze into 130 dropouts without any problems?
Sorry, the advise yesterday was not really correct, you CANNOT spring your carbon frame to accept 135mm you don't say what width tyres you have, but assuming this is a road bike the 700c 622 Rear Wheel 32h Mavic Open Elite Rim with Shimano Tiagra 10/11 speed Hub in Black (SJS Cycles part number : 45473) is 130mm OLN and a better choice. I need to replace my road bike mavic cxp elite 10 speed rear wheel - is this wheel be compatible?

To replace the rear wheel of my Dawes Hybrid bike that I use daily for a 7.5km (each way) commute.
Over 5 years ago replaced the rear with a wheel that had a Mavic A119 rim, 622x19C Alu S6000 with Shimano Deore hub.
It has a 8 speed cassette 11-32T, with I think no spacers. (will I need one?)
The tyres I use are Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700 x 35C (37-622).
Hi, yes it will be suitable. Thanks 13/12/19
7 speed hub & spacer question
By
27 Feb 2019
My current rear wheel has a Deore FM-530 hub, a spacer and a seven-speed cassette. 1. Will this hub work with a 7 speed cassette? 2. Will my existing spacer be suitable or is this hub's freewheel unit a different length than my existing one, if so please recommend an appropriate spacer from your stock.
Hi there,

This should work with a 7-speed cassette as long as you use a spacer, Although we do not stock your current spacer so we would not know whether this would fit or not I'm afraid.

Thanks.

Can you supply this wheel with a silver hub instead?
By

Hello,

If you wanted this wheel with a silver hub you would have to get a bespoke wheel built.

Thanks.

Current wheel is a Mavic T261, 36 spoke, with an 8 speed shimano cassette. It has a 700 x 28c tyre fitted.
Hi, yes this would be a good replacement. The Mavic A319 is from their touring range of rims & is very rubust, the take tyres from 28mm to 47mm. The Shimano Deore hub will accept 8, 9 & 10 speed cassettes. Regards
