Strong, reliable cro-moly. Cr-Mo can most likely be repaired if necessary even in the back of beyond with someone who can carry out some kind of basic welding... an aluminum rack won't afford you the same luxury. Height-adjustable, so you can get your center of gravity as low as possible to provide a stable ride.
The hardware included with our rear rack allows it to work with all sizes of the Surly Long Haul Trucker touring frame (42 to 62cm), so it should easily mount to most other touring frames. Its wide platform has plenty of room for rack trunks, sleeping bags, tents, boxes of lima beans, or small cages full of hamsters.
Stainless steel fixings to suit most rigid 26" and 700c frames equipped with drum, caliper, or cantilever brakes. Note: Generally not compatible with Disc brakes and suspension. Powder coated black or silver for corrosion resistance and good looks

I recommend this product
ConsNot Ortlieb friendly
ProsBomb proof, great finish
Surly make good gear and I love this rack. Perfect fit for a 29 plus Surly Krampus bike. They were made for each other! Won’t fit on offset Fat bikes such as the older Surly Pugsleys... I know, I’ve tried. People have but at the expense of bending the rack and possibly compromising its integral strength!

What’s good.... bomb proof! Perfect set up for panniers and a rack bag. I’ve got Ortlieb back roller pro plus and an Ortlieb rack pack. It’s got a single screw hole for a rear light. No good for many rack lights but I’ve come across a single screw to twin screw adapter which I think was for a Brompton.

What not good... the cross beams on the top are set distance wise apart so that Ortliebs quick click rack connectors won’t fit.

So 90 percent great and 10 percent bad if over the years you have been collecting Ortlieb products. Cost wise, you get what you pay for!
Good But Fiddly

ConsVery exoensive and fiddly.
ProsStrng looking and adjustable
This is a lovely and strong looking pannier rack, although I haven't had the chance to test it out yet it looks as though it will last for years.I bought it as I have a bicycle that's difficult to fit full sized panniers on unless you have a very tall or adjustable rack which can very very hard to get.I previously had a Tortec Ultra light but wanted something strong er and easily repairable. The only things I dislike about this rack are the utterly useless instructions which need a magnifying glass to read, and the assembly requires a lot of patience as it's very fiddly to fit.

To be honest had I a normal Touring/Mountain bicycle instead of a recumbent with 20 inch wheels I would have bought a Tubus cargo rack which is just as strong. Also it is much easy to fit with the added bonus of having a proper lamp bracket on the back.

can I use it with a surly troll disk break and rohloff hub
By

The disk break are Avid bb7 standard on this bike.
On the surly website is saying the rack will fix on the troll but with specific 140 mm rotor ...
I am not really sure about the size so you might know if it will fix on it?
many thanks
That is a question for Surly as it is there rack / bike combination.

Thanks

Looking for a rack to fit existing pannier bag, 14" minimum.
Hybrid bike (GT Arrette), 28" tire
Hi,

This pannier rack is large enough so that you will be able to fit your current panniers too it an it is adjustable so therefore will be compatible with 28" tyres.

Thanks.
