I recommend this product
ConsNot easy, requires specialist tools
ProsGood upgrade for an older Brompton
Upgraded an older Brompton to this, which required a change in bottom bracket, a good few specialist tools, and a fair bit of effort. However, whilst a shop fitting would have cost the same as the tools, I get to keep the tools and have learned more about the bike, so definitely worth it!

To use this to replace the crankset on a 2007 Brompton, which bottom bracket would I need?

SJS Cycles part number : 31207 is the Brompton spec one, but you can use any 119mm JIS 68mm square taper.

Can I use an 1/8 inch chain?
By
11 Jun 2019
My brompton is a 6 speed with the SRAM rear hub (2007). I'd prefer to use an 1/8 inch chain to be that bit lighter. Will that work OK with this chainwheel?

Thank you. Charles Ferrar
(and I am aware of the change in bottom bracket)
This is a 3/32 chainwheel, modern Bromptons use 3/32, yours may well be 1/8 chain (but 1/8 is not lighter) a 1/8 chain will run on this chainset if you HAVE to use it because your hub sprocket is 1/8. If you are still in doubt email directly our expert ([email protected])
