NO barrel adjusters. CNC alloy brackets to convert 7/8/9/10/11 speed Shimano Ultegra/ Dura Ace bar end levers into old fashioned thumbies. NOTE>> also needs a pair of barrel adjusters from the down tube stops (our part number 24780). Complete with M5 x 45 screws and washers

These thumb shifter brackets are only designed to be used with bar end shifters and are not compatible with down tube shifters.

Not compatible with all Microshift Bar-end shifters. These often have a lower profile than Shimano shifters and therefore the cable feed doesn’t line up.

This is the value of asking the nice folk at SJS. They point you to things you never knew existed. Looking forward to moving my trusty bar end shifters across to the new flat bar set up on the tandem

ProsWell made and good design

I was able to recycle my Shimano bar end shifters with these brackets. Very happy with my new handlebars, and the shifters that I always liked. I found that if you strip the end of your cable ( 3/8") you can screw it in the threaded hole of the bracket, solid connection.

Just the trick for converting bar end shifters!

ConsCould do with instructions supplied. Took a bit of experimenting to get them fitted.

ProsA good way to convert bar end shifters to thumb style shifters.

I bought a set of these so that I could convert my drop barred Dawes Horizon Touring bike, over to flat bars for more comfort.

To help the gear cables clear the bar bag, I added a set of v-brake noodles on the end of the recommended barrel adjusters.

Excellent in every respect.

ProsDo what they are supposed to do

I was able to use these to switch my old XTC from drop to straight bars. This solved the problem of finding compatible new shifters for my XT 9/3 gears. Sliding them on to the bars was a squeeze and I had to gently pry them open with a screwdriver. I mounted them inboard of the brake levers and on top of the bars so that I could achieve a finger and thumb shift. Instructions for which way round to fit them would have saved a bit of time.

Fitted these under the bars but there is not enough room for my thumb so it shortens my bar length effectively. I thus mounted them on top. There is a little interference with reaching the brakes but i only need one finger so its ok. I've not tried mounting them stem side of the brake levers. They do the job and allow me to use my bar end shifters again. I didn't use thumbshifters in the early days as gripshift was what wa being sold so i always knew that the disadvantages would be new to me.
I'm sticking with the simplicity though. Didn't know if to but the microshift but these were cheaper as i had the shifters. They are metal which was a bonus as it wasn't obvious and thought they would be plastic.

ProsMuch less expensive than Paul Thumbies!

Brilliant. Not cheap, but worth every penny. I have these on Jones Loop bars, mounted under bar with Shimano Ultegra shifters in friction mode, swapped left to right to enable the under bar mount. This leaves the top of the bars clear to make best use of all the hand positions available with the Jones bars. Also hides the less attractive screw head!

I have a Microshift BS-No8 shifter for a shimano nexus hub, will these be the right size or does the cable not line up?

It totally depends on the exact shifter in question due to differences in profile and cable routing- We have only tested them with the Shimano Dura-Ace SL-BS77 levers.

Can I use this with Shimano SL-7900 "Down tube" shifters?

Hi again. Thank for Your reply.
Just to be sure. My Shimano SL-7900 are "Down tube" shifters and not "Bar end" shifters. The "Down tube" version is a little longer and not angled like the "Bar end" version.
Will it work?

Hi, if you have bar space the length will not be an issue. The raised square on the bracket is at an angle so that the cranked bar end shifters are parallel to the bars in a middle gear choice, your shifters will be in a slightly different position. I would like to move my down shifters up to the handle bar. Can i use this with my Shimano SL-7900 10x2 speed index down tube shifters?
Will it compromise the index shifting?

Thank you for your enquiry. Using these brackets with your shifters will find & shouldn't affect the index shifting at all, we've sold a complete set including the Dura-Ace shifters for some time with no issues.

On the assumption that D/T stands for Down Tube, apparently they worked with Paul D/T shifters.
Unexpected compatibility ?

I have a pair of 10 speed microshift MTB shifters, mounted on my drop-bar bike. I am thinking to convert to flat or alternative bars. Looking for a cheaper alternative to the paul thumbies (art. 43349) I found this product. In the description you say that they are not compatible with all the microshift bar ends. Can they be used with the ones I have?

Will They Work With Shimano Dura Ace Tt 2X10 Shifters?

Dura Ace TT bar end shifters 2 x10 speed, it states that it works with 9 speed, but 10 is needed.

These thumb brackets can be used with any Shimano style bar end levers, I doesn't matter what speed they are. They cannot be used with down tube shifters though.
