The new upgraded rear view mirror from Busch & Muller with a larger lens for enhanced vision. The design is unique and very functional offering a very large field of vision. The mirror is very easy to fit with plenty of adjustment for perfect alignment. It is supplied with both bar end fit and jubilee clip for the handlebars.

ProsHigh quality and gives a wide rear view.

Excellent quality product and works perfectly on the bar end of my drops. I have the 50mm mirrors without the arm on my other bikes which are neater in appearance but the 80mm gives a far wider field of view, and gives me greater confidence at a glance that I have not missed anything.

Such a large mirror on drop bars does look a little odd but I feel much safer with the clear view of the road behind. I can see at glance if it is safe to pull out to miss a pothole or a bit of debris. The short arm gives grater flexibility of positioning than my others without the arm. Works perfect for me as I have trouble twisting around these days.

Difficult to adjust when in motion

ConsAdjustment is very sensitive so not easy to make a minor change when in motion.

ProsGood field of vision

As a senior returning to cycling after several decades I felt nervous when wanting to look over my shoulder to check on traffic before attempting a manoevre. Overall I feel much safer with the rear view mirror but found it VERY hard to make a minor adjustment while in motion, usually losing the required field of vision completely for a moment but today was my first day. A little bit fiddly to install.

I recommend this product

I bought this mirror as a replacement for the one I had on the tandem for approx 16 years.
It wouldn't fit as I wanted but the jubilee clip which came with the mirror made a very good fit.
We have only used the tandem a couple of times since I fitted the mirror but found the mirror very good.

ProsQuality, design and safety

I have been using a smaller Busch and Muller mirror up until now, and the quality has been excellent, I have just needed to tighten up the bolt from time to time, hardly surprising though as it get wiggled about when I turn it in to park up. I wanted to try a bigger one though and this is brilliant for seeing what's behind. The quality is excellent. I bought two, one for a Moulton and one for a Thorn. As they fit in the end of the handlebar end fitting is easy and I am managing to use the mirror in conjunction with a paint of Ergon grips on the Moulton.

The acid test is if it went missing would I replace it? Immediately!

Fit with Ergon grips?

Will this fit with Ergon GP5 rohloff grips?

The GP5 has a stop, meaning you cannot just slide the grip inward; if you modified the grip, removing the stop, yes you could fit this.

We would suggest this though - SJS Cycles part number : 49857
