ConsShame not in alloy and stainless bands

Ordered these to enable me to fit a water bottle cage to one of my fleet of pre 80's road bikes.
All works ok and looks ok , if there is a complaint its a shame that its all plastic and not alloy with a stainless band but then it would be more expensive.
Oh watch the grub screw on the band as the allen key will just spin once a certain point has been reached.

Can I fix tbese to 16mm stays with some packing underneath?
