High quality bottom bracket

I recommend this product
Consnone
ProsVery smooth bearings, high quality bearing seals, very good material finish
Bought the 122mm version and was replacing a shimano BB-UN54 bottom bracket.
I decided steel cups were better in my old steel frame as the threads were less likely to seize than aluminium cups, which you get with the more expensive Quad 75. The weight penalty is insignificant for me.
I measured the asymmetry when fitted and the spindle is about 0.5mm from the frame centreline towards the right (drive) side of the bike, which is unnoticeable.
Bearing o/d looks slightly larger than the previous shimano bearings which, in theory, implies longer life.
Lastly, it's great that SJS cycles stock the IRD brand which specialise in producing high quality parts to keep older models of bicycles on the road.

Hi,

Can the bearings of these be replaced, and if so, do you sell them?
Only the IRD QB-95 is rebuildable, we do not stock the bearings. SK 22/05/23
Hello, can I use the Shimano tool (SJS part No. 858) to install this IRD bottom bracket ?

Can I use this on a B75 Brompton?

Hi is it possible to replace the stock BB with this model in 118mm length on a Brompton B75 and still have good measurements and compatibility with the oem spider cranks? Thanks!
Hi, yes it should be OK. Thanks
Protrusion on right side

Previous question says it protrudes 12mm on each side, adding 68mm BB width only gives 92mm total. That leaves 18mm unaccounted for. Can we have the measurement from where the BB contacts the right side of the frame i.e the inside of the flange.
Please elaborate on the asymmetry

Since the spindle does not protrude equally on each side, I assume that the right (drive) side is longer than the other side. Is that correct?
On the 110 mm spindle length, how many millimeters does the spindle protrude from the cartridge on the right side? And on the left?
Thanks
Hi, yes in most instances they are off set. However on this BB the 110 is close to 12mm on each side. Thanks
Is the spindle symmetric?

In other words, does the spindle protrude equally much on each side of the cartridge?
Hi, the spindles do not protrude equally on each side. Thanks
