what does "sealed bearing" mean...?

The term sealed bearing nowadays is confusing. Does it mean a cartridge bearing..? Or just a cup & cone bearing with some kind of dust seal...?

What spindle length do I need?

Hi, I'm converting from a tottered crank to sq taper, ideally sealed bearing. 68mm shell, SA 3 speed hub gear, so single chainwheel. Can you recommend a sealed bearing BB & crank combo? 170mm crank length, ideally 50 tooth chainwheel. Thanks
