Also, in order to check compatibility with my "tradional" Hollowtech 2 tools, please confirm diameter is 44mm (not 73mm per your description, that I presume is the shell width).

Thank you for your enquiry, this is not made by Shimano, it is a Stronglight and is compatible with Shimano, it fits with standard tools, shell width is 68 to 73 with the spacers so will only work with MTB chainsets.
