Good braking on alloy rims

I recommend this product
ProsExcellent braking, look like the original Weinmann blocks
The blocks took a bit of effort to squeeze into the metal holders, but bedded into position when slid fully home.
Salmon pink blocks give excellent grip on alloy rims - noticably better than old black blocks.

Can I use these pads to replace original Weinmann Vainqueur 750 pads?

Hi there,

It looks as though you need the 6 dot ones. These are part #33887. We do not stock your brakes so we cannot say for definite whether these will fit or not though.

Thanks.
best brake blocks for chrome rims?
By

Hi,
I've recently renovated a 1966 Dawes Kingpin and replaced the brake blocks but had a shock when I tried to stop the other morning when the wheels were a bit wet.
I don't want to replace the wheels because of the Dynohub and Sturmey Archer hub, so which brake blocks work best with Weinmann brakes and chromed steel rims?
Thanks,
Ken.
Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have any brake blocks specifically for chromed steel rims as almost all rims produced now are alloy. These salmon coloured pads offer the best wet weather braking performance on alloy rims, but unfortunately we don't know how well they would work on steel rims.

Thanks.
Salmon Or Black For Alloy Rims

Should I use salmon or black for alloy rims. I think there was a difference in the originals ? Or, doesn't it matter ?
Hello,

The black brake blocks will give you bike a more authentic look, whereas the salmon will give you better all weather braking. It is possible that they will mark your rim and with it being alloy it will be quite visible. It is more down to personal preference.

Thank.
