Consdifficult setup for novice
Proshigh quality brake
I would put this brake on par with the old Shimano XT m730 cantilevers and way beyond similarly priced Tecktro's. the post style isn't easy for the novice but if your smart you'll replace the pads with a cartridge type and never have to adjust them again.

Compatible straddle cable?
By
24 May 2023
Can you please identify a replacement straddle cable for these brakes? The cable that comes with the brakes has one end that’s like a road brake/gear cross. All other straddle cables I’ve used have had a much bulkier cable end.
Would a brake or gear cable suffice as they are thinner?
Thanks
The straddle takes a gear nipple end and uses 1.6mm cable, provided you use the same it will be fine, try part number 6814 SK 25/05/23
55mm bosses?
By
29 Mar 2023
Hi will these fit a 1987 Raleigh Royal super tourist with 55mm cc brake bosses and 700x25 tyre's?
These brakes are designed to mount onto standard cantilever bosses so they should fit on your bike. SK 30/03/23

By

Hi,

yes these can be used both on the front and the rear.

Thanks.
Will these suit external spring holes?
By
16 May 2019
The spring holes on my canti studs are on the outside rather than the inside. Any idea if these brakes will work, other others that would suit?
they will not, the Avid Shorty Ultimate Cantilever Brake (front or rear) and the Suntour Self-Energising SE Cantilever Brakes - Rear do not need the holes
Can I use flat bar shimano STi levers with dia-compe 999 cantilever brakes

replacing Tektro Oryx Cantis
By
07 Sep 2018
I currently have a touring bike and need to replce the cantilevers.
Will the Dia comp 999 be a suitable replacement and will they fit the wheel width?
I have Shimano 105 STI levers.
Could I use the Avid Shorty ones/
If neither of these are suitable what others could I choose of not Tektro again?

Chris
You can use any centre pull cantilever brake.

Thanks
Is this for one pair or two?

Comaptible With 80S Forks?
By
30 May 2016
Will these brakes work with canti bosses that are only 55mm apart?
Hi,

They should just about work on your forks providing you have a fairly narrow rim. Too wide a rim and the blocks will sit on the rim the whole time.

Thanks.
Cable Included?
By
26 Mar 2016
Does these suit fore and aft on the bike, and is the cable needed included?
Hi,

These brakes can be used on either the front or the rear and the straddle wire to connect the two arms is indeed included.

Thanks.
