ConsNone
ProsPerfect fit
One of those annoyingly easy to lose but essential bits that are hard to get replacements for. Fits perfectly

ProsOriginal shimano part
Bought to replace the original pin which had been reused for 5 sets of pads and had seized into the Caliper housing. Had to use plus gas and an impact screwdriver to get the old one out. Threads on new one greased with Copaslip.
It’s the right bit

ConsBetter if you could buy split pin only or pack of 5
ProsIt’s the correct part, it keeps your brake pads in place which is quite important!
Good that SJS can supply genuine replacements, it would probably be better if you could buy a split pin and bolt separately, maybe a pack of five split pins as they tend to get lost more easily.
Bit pricey for what they are, but they do the job

ConsPricey for what they are
ProsGenuine Part for Shimano replacement
Genuine part to use with Shimano Calipers. They seem a bit pricey for what they are, but it’s the recommended part and is genuine

ConsOnly really needed the snap ring
ProsCorrect part easily identified
Bought as I had lost the snap ring, but probably no harm replacing the bolt as well. The correct part was easily identified on the website.
Bad Design

ConsMade of very soft steel which reacts with the magnesium alloy of the calliper
ProsNone really
Had to replace because previous one locked itself to the calliper and had to be drilled out. Turns out this 'dissimilar metal' effect is a common (and inevitable) occurrence. Best to grease the threads, take them out every ride or replace with a split pin

BR-R7070-F?
By
23 May 2022
Will this fit in a BR-R7070-F?
Thank you for your enquiry, yes this will fit all ok

WD 24/05/22
Is there an alternative to this for br-rs785 or can I just use a split pin
By
15 Jul 2020
No, use of a split pin this application is not recommended by the manufacture- therefor the correct pin but be used to prevent damage to the calliper.
Can this be used with TRP Spyre-C cable actuated disc breaks?
By
29 Apr 2020
Sorry, this is a Shimano part, it's true that the brakes accept Shimano pads but I can't be sure this would also fit the brake. HOWEVER the TRP Brake Pad Retaining Pin, copy and paste this link:

Is there a steel version of this pin?
By
25 Mar 2020
This pin is made of low-grade aluminium, and is prone to seizing in the caliper. Do you have a suitable steel alternative (prefereably with a hex head)?
Unfortunately we do not have another option to offer! There are other made with allen key heads, but whether they fit is not something we have tested.

Thanks - 27/03/20
Is there a hex/allen head version of this
By
08 Jul 2019
Is there a version of this bolt that has a hex/allen head instead of this flathead? Like you get on the Shimano MTB callipers, as the flatheads just round off.
Yes there are, but not that are suitable for this size/shape.

Is this pad axle the one for BR805 brakes?
By

Hi,

yes, this will work with Shimano BR-RS805.

Thanks.
Right size for BR-R8070?
By

Would this work with an Ultegra 8070 caliper?
Cheers
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry, we can confirm that this item is also the correct pad axle & snap ring for the Shimano Ultegra BR-R8070 caliper.
Kind Regards. 17/04/19
