What brake levers should I buy for optimum braking performance?

Please advise exact make/model of brake levers I should buy to use with the following 2 types of cantilever brakes:

Tektro Oryx 992A cyclocross cantilever brakes
Avid Shorty cyclocross cantilever brakes

I have standard straight mountain bike handlebars, and I know that I need to use brake levers with the correct amount of reach (long/short/other?) for the cantilever brakes to achieve optimal braking performance.

You will need to use a short pull brake lever or road type brake lever, they are available in flat bar and drop bar versions. SK 22/03/24

Can I replace Shimano Altus BR-CT91 Cantilever Brakes with these? Would the reach be the same?
