If you have a rack on your bike then you ought to have one of these nets on it.
I keep one on the racks of all my bikes because when you are out you just never know if you are going to get something from the shops be it small or large the cargo net will hook around it and keep it on the rack.
They will easily hold a football on the rack.
Cheap to buy, last forever and priceless for holding awkward shaped parcels on the bike.
