Any Shimano MTB long cage 8 speed mech will work, but you might also need to use SJS part: 48378
Is this compatible with medium length Claris derailleur? If not will an extender make it so ?

Want this for our tandem to get up those hills. Have Alivio 24 rapid fire with 24/34/42 chain set. any problems I need to overcome?

Compatible with deore long cage

To use this cassette with a deore long cage I?m guessing I?ll need a deralliur extender then that?s it am I right?

If you are using a single ring this should work fine without the extender.
