I recommend this product
ConsNone
ProsTough, inexpensive
Just replacing like for like on my commuter/gravel grinder. These rings are great value, eat punishment for breakfast and last for many thousands of miles. Maybe not for your best Sunday bike with Ultegra kit, but for an everyday bike they're spot on.

Previously I ran Stronglight Dural chainrings, costing a lot more for around the same longevity and a little less weight.

I recommend this product
ConsNo colour option
ProsCheap. Retro styling. Tough as auld boots
I use this steel outer ring on my winter bike..I ride in all weather's which basically is a grinding paste for my drive train...I eat chains and cassettes and chainrings... So to be able to find one at this rediculously cheap price is great.. Steel should outlast alloy, I'm not too bothered about the asthetics and the colour and style may not be too everyone's taste but I like the retro look. Hardly any weight disadvantage and performs perfectly..oh yes and at least 5 times cheaper than the alloy Shimano rings I had been buying ??
Perfect for what I needed

I recommend this product
ConsNone at this price if it does its job right
ProsFirst 100kms it works fine. Good value for money.
I ordered 4 of these chainrings from SJS Cycles. The delivery was very quick, the goods arrived in Ireland three days after I placed my order. This was the first time I'd ordered anything from SJS Cycles but on the basis of the service this time around, I'll certainly order again. Top notch, thanks!

This chainring is intended for use on 7/8 speed drive trains only. SK 17/04/23
Shimano Claris FC2450

I can't find an 8 speed Claris FC 2450 double 50T outer chain ring in stock anywhere.

Would this be an alternative? It's for a bike that lives on the turbo.

Thanks
Thank you for your enquiry, yes it will be fine

Hi, thanks for getting back to me, the code is FC 3550
By
23 Nov 2020
Hi, from looking at the Shimano technical diagrams of the FC-3550 we would stay that this part is NOT compatible- however, SJS part 32739 is.

Hi is this compatible with 9 speed sora 50t 110 bcd? Thank you
By
23 Nov 2020
We cannot confirm that this part would be compatible as without knowing exactly which Sora chainset you intend to use this with. Please find the FC code on the inside of the crank arm and let us know what this says- from this we can assist with confirming compatibility.

Wear and weight

Also
Will the steel ring wear slower than an aluminium one (presuming chain and cassette always kept in good condition and changed regular)
And is their much of a weight penalty
Hi, The steel ring will last longer than an alloy one of the same size. The weight difference is not much in relation to the extended life span. Thanks
Will this fit onto Shimano 105 5600 34/50 110bdc crankset
By

I've got a 2012,Shimano 105 5600 10speed compact 110bdc chainset on my winter bike, the rest of the groupset is 8 speed Claris and it all runs fine... The chainring teeth are all knackered/hooked... Will I be able to fit this chainring onto my 105 cranks?
Also will the steel ring wear slower than an aluminium one (presuming chain and cassette always kept in good condition and changed regular)
And is their much of a weight penalty
Hi yes it is 110 bcd so it should fit. Steel will last longer than alloy. Thanks
Fits 9 speed?
By
16 Apr 2018
Thanks. I just wanted to check that this will indeed work for a 9 speed because an answer from a couple of years ago says it will fit 7 and 8 speed which maybe implies it wont fit 9 speed.....and half(!) understanding what i have read on the web there seems to be potential incompatibility between 8 and 9 speed (or is that just for the chain and cassette width)
Neil
Hi there,

Generally 7/8 speed rings will be okay with 9 speed, but we recommend using the most direct match if possible for the best shifting.

Thanks

Hi

Thank you for your enquiry. This chainring should fit with no problems as it has the same BCD as your existing chainring, I hope this helps.
