A steel chain ring

ProsIt works
In the product description the fact that this is a steel chain ring is not mentioned. 'Silver' - I stupidly assumed it was alloy.
I've paid £10 for a ring with Shimano stamped on it, I could have bought one for £3 from SJS without a logo.
Why are alloy chain rings so expensive - £30 and climbing!

Will This Work On Mtb Cranks?

Hi, I need to replace the inner ring on an 8 spd setup, an old mtb triple which I converted to a double, which was 36/46. Will this work?
SJS Customer Service:
Hi,
It will depend on what bolt spacing your cranks use, this chainring requires a 5 bolt system with an 110BCD spacing and a lot of MTB cranks use 4 bolts in a 104BCD spacing. If your cranks take a 5 bolt 110BCD spacing then this ring will be fine.
Thanks.

Hi,
Providing your running an 8spd system then this ring in theory could be used as an inner chainring on a triple chainset. The only issue you may encounter is that your front derailleur may not shift as well and may rub when the chain is on the smaller sprocket.
Thanks.
