This chainguard fits in place of an outer chainring on a double/triple, can be made to fit as well as three rings by using longer bolts and 4.6mm spacers if the crank has enough space between the arm and the outer ring. If in doubt ring for advice.

Chain-Guard

I recommend this product
ConsHeavy
ProsSturdy, good looks.
Use this on my single chainring which won't take the plastic ones. Really a bash guard and is very sturdy and looks good in black. A bit heavy for my use at 120 gm and 3mm thick so may "add" lightening holes: but protects my leg from oil stains.
Substantial Chainguard

I recommend this product
ConsNeed to source spacers and longer bolts
ProsQuality
Great quality chainguard - can't easily find or fit a full-length chainguard on a triple so this chainguard is the best alternative. Some offer flimsy plastic affairs or there are overpriced versions for downhill MTBers. The SJS chainguard is a rigid disc (couple of mm thick) and fitted easily on the XT triple with the help of SJS's pack of spacers (I used 4 x 1.2mm for each bolt) and some longer chainring bolts (15mm). No risk now of a punctured calf in case of a fall and it helps keep the grease off clothing. Going to buy another for a second tourer...

Can I use this with a SRAM S600 triple chainset
By

We have never fitted this to a S600, but we cannot see an issue as the bolt pattern is the same. You will need to remove the outer ring, or use spacers and longer bolts.

Thorn short triple chainset?
By
18 Dec 2019
I am looking to install the short triple chainset on a recumbent trike and want to fit some form of chain guard to prevent damage to the largest chainring in the event of a collision.
Yes, you can fit this on the outer, three rings, some longer bolts and spacers.

SJS Cycles part number : 33189W06

Hi!

If I want to use this with ”Thorn 104/64 PCD Triple Crankset MK2" together with a "Thorn 104mm BCD 4 Arm Reversible Single Chainring 3/32 Inch - Black
SJS Cycles part number : 11054S39
Teeth : 39"
So that the chainring is in the middle to have the 54mm chainline for Rohloff and this Chainguard in the third/triple position. So, which are the correct chainring bolts for this setup?

Many thanks!
We would recommend - SJS Cycles part number : 27234DBL

Compatibility with Deore XT M750 Triple Cranks
By
05 Jul 2018
Hi there,

I am just wondering if this would be compatible with the old XT M750 square taper triple cranks? If so, please could you let me know which additional parts I'd need?

Many thanks
Yes you could use this, it would need to replace your outer chainring, you should be able to use the existing chainring bolts.

Thanks
